One of the web sites I currently read with regularity is Smashing Magazine. I must say that I enjoy this site a lot and have been learning a lot of things. They recently published an article by Jen Gordon of Clever Twist. The article is entitled “How To Create Your First iPhone Application”. It lists the steps that you need in order to create your first iPhone application.
With the iPhone’s rising popularity, applications for this device are rapidly gaining market share. The great thing about the iPhone is that for the first time there’s a great mobile platform that people …read more

PC World has come up with their list of Gorgeous! 15 of the Greatest Tech Designs Ever. Among those items that made their list are the MacBook Air, an Alienware gaming desktop, LaCie 5big Network and the MoGo Bluetooth mouse.
Let’s start the discussion on what you think the best examples of technology design are these days and in recent history. We don’t have to focus on items that are just beautiful aesthetically either. Great design can also encompass a great user-interface too. I don’t like iTunes to manage, but the simple interface of iPods are a great example of design …read more

Awhile back I wrote about the MyTego website and how you can upload your own custom graphics to truly personalize your tech gadget or computer. I ordered one to give it a try and it arrived the other day. I was eager to get it out of the package and see how it looked.

I tried Pixelmator before but didn’t really use it much ever since. Probably, because I never really had enough time to play with it. The makers of Pixelmator recently released a new version and a new learning section in their web site which aims to teach and showcase the powerful editor that Pixelmator has become.
The Colorful Bokeh Effect tutorial was the one that caught my interest. I like these types of images and saw it as a great opportunity to learn how to create one. So I downloaded a copy of Pixelmator again since the last copy I downloaded was …read more
Merging Table Cells in Word

Working on a Word document and using a table to control different columns of text. Given that the ribbon toolbar is supposed to group commands in a contextual pattern. I would have expected a “Merge Cells” button to display when I had selected more than one congruent cell.
However, I had to figure out that the command would be stored under the “Layout” section of the page.
I still love the ribbon, and I understand that there’s a little bit of a learning curve, but this seemed to not take advantage of the contextual placement like it should have.
