This is Important. The following are the developments which have taken place in the Indian Premier League from 24th April to 2nd May, 2008:

Shaun Marsh is a great find, but I think its too early to tell

Cricket Trivia 2 (Who Am I?) Answer

eat Cricket, drink Cricket, sleep Cricket
Sourav Tiwary, a player from Under-19 Cricket World Cup is the correct answer to Cricket Trivia 2. Looks a bit like Mahendra Singh Dhoni. No surprise though: he hails from Jharkhand, Dhoni’s state. In fact, he’s being hailed as Dhoni’s lookalike.
The clue lied in his resemblance to Dhoni, something we hinted in “faking the smile”; we emphasized million in million-dollar smile owing to all the millions Dhoni is getting.
Congratulations to Baseer and Kishore for the correct responses!

Australia v India, CB Series, 7th ODI, Adelaide ; February 17, 2008
Australia 9 for 203 (Clarke 79, Pathan 4-41) beat India 153 (Johnson 3-42) by 50 runs

Australia beats India in the 7th CB Series ODI by 50 runs
There’s been a lot of talk recently about Australia losing the confidence and luster they were once known for. It might be true, but the thing is, they’re still a cut above the rest, whatever level they are at.
Their most in-form bowler didn’t play, they struggled to put up a decent total, and yet they managed to …read more

A forgettable series (and 10 reasons we’d have to remember it anyway)

So, India has an unbeatable lead in the Indian Oil Cup. 3-1.
While the media is surely going to go gaga over it, I’ll admit we aren’t faking any joy over or interest in it. That we are actually discussing genetics at school these days should be a clue to how much interested we really are in it. I am glad it’s going to be over soon. Just one (match) more to go. [We are more into the as-of-yet not started Australia tour, actually. Move over Pakistan, Australia is our biggest rival now.]
But then I thought that it’s not fair to …read more

The Day of the Underdog

Kris Srikkanth and my dad are more than happy. Their deepest wish has come true.

BCCI, in a hasty attempt to resolve the captaincy crisis following Tendulkar’s refusal, have passed on the hat to Kumble. They had several options beside Kumble: Dhoni, Laxman, and Ganguly. Not going for Ganguly and Laxman is understandable, but they must have had a hard time choosing between Dhoni and Kumble. I think their pseudo-logic behind leaving out Dhoni was that they didn’t want to burden the ODI captain with additional responsibility at this point. But there was also a trace of indecision — Kumble’s captaincy …read more

Tendulkar says “nah”; the captaincy drama continues

Sachin Tendulkar has refused to captain India’s Test side for reasons that are unknown to mortals as of yet. Most self-claimed cricket experts (my dad included) are of view that Tendulkar simply lacks executive intelligence-the kind that is needed to lead an international team. He’s no match to Ponting, Waugh, and the like, of course.
Let’s dig up some stats.

Dhoni and his new hair cut–what’s the inside dish?

Uncle J’s love for Dhoni (his locks, especially) is known to everyone on the blogosphere. Since Dhoni chopped his hair to get a more boy-next-door look, Uncle J has been desperate to know why. Why oh why?
To be honest, I don’t know. I am not one to fan rumors, but some say this has to do with a certain Bollywood damsel Deepika Padukone, who Dhoni is believed to have a huge crush on. If that’s so, well and good, but I think this is an SRK*-cooked publicity stunt for her latest Bollywood movie. Dhoni beware. Padukone is 5′ 9” …read more

That’s what you get when you win…

Thanks be to the forces that be! The first ODI between India and Australia was called off due to rain. I don’t think India would have reached 307 in anyway — given their history in chasing.
But I am writing this post to actually give you a glimpse of the grand welcome Dhoni and Boys received in Mumbai.
