Dirk Nowitzki Explodes in Fourth Quarter

Dirk Nowitzki was quiet in the first three quarters of the Dallas Mavericks game against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. Then the fourth quarter began. With the Mavs trailing 67-52, Nowitzki exploded for 29 fourth quarter points to lead the Mavs to a 96-85 victory over the Jazz.
Nowitzki’s explosion set a new franchise record and he finished the contest with 40 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and two steals. He hit 12-of-22 shots from the field, 1-of-3 three-pointers and 15-of-16 shots from the free throw line. Amazingly, he didn’t record a single turnover in the game.

Dirk Nowitzki Leads Mavs Over Cavs

Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks defeated a Cleveland Cavaliers squad that was missing a few key pieces — namely LeBron James, Mo Williams and Shaquille O’Neal. Nowitzki poured in 19 points as the Mavs beat the Cavs by a final score of 93-82. With the win, Dallas is now 4-1 in the preseason.
Nowitzki scored his 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting and also had five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Kris Humphries, Drew Gooden and Rodrigue Beaubois were also in double figures for the Mavs.

Tim Thomas Joins the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks were reportedly looking for a shooting who could spread the floor. Early this week, the Mavs found what they were looking for. Tim Thomas, who has been one of the better outside shooting bigmen in the NBA over the last decade, has decided to join the Mavs. He will reportedly receive a one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum.

Nuggets Topple Mavs, Advance to the WCF

The Denver Nuggets are headed to the Western Conference. In Game 5 against the Dallas Mavericks, the Nuggets’ offense proved to be just too much. Denver got up early and glided to a 124-110 victory.
Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups were the stars for the Nuggets. Anthony led the way with 30 points, five assists and three assists, while Billups had 28 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds. Anthony hit 13-of-22 field goald attempts and Billups of 10-of-16. J.R. Smith, Nene and Kenyon Martin chipped in with 18, 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Down 0-3 in the best of seven series against the Denver Nuggets, the Dallas Mavericks faced a must-win game on Monday night. Playing in front of his home fans, Dirk Nowitzki had a game to remember as he led the Mavs to a 119-117 victory and Game 5 to be played in Denver.
Nowitzki scored 44 points on the night, including 19 points in the final stanza. For the game, the native of Germany hit 14-of-25 shots from the field, 16-of-17 shots from the line, pulled down 13 rebounds, handed out three assists, collected two steals and blocked one shot. Helping …read more

Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets is regarded as one of the clutchest players in the basketball world. On Saturday, Anthony proved his clutchness once again. Down by two points with less than five seconds remaining, the Nuggets’ superstar small forward drained a three-pointer to give Denver the 106-105 win and a 3-0 lead in the best of seven series against the Dallas Mavericks.

Cristal Taylor and Dirk Nowitzki Story

An interesting, weird and somewhat sad story is developing in Dallas. Cristal Taylor was arrested at Dirk Nowitzki’s house. According to multiple reports, Taylor is Nowitzki’s fiancee and could possibly be pregnant with Nowitzki’s child.
Nowitzki, who was interviewed after practice for the Dallas Mavericks prior to their Game 3 contest against the Denver Nuggets, declined to give any information. Taylor is reportedly still in jail and hasn’t been bailed out. She was arrested for a theft charge and probation violation.

US Men’s Basketball Goes Undefeated to Quarter Finals

The US men’s basketball team easily defeated Team Germany on Monday, leaving them the only team undefeated in pool play. Dwight Howard led the scoring with 22 points as they topped the Germans 106 to 57. LeBron James contributed 18 points. Dallas Maverick All-Star, Dirk Nowitzki led the scoring for the Germans with 14 points.
The Lithuanian team was undefeated going into today’s game with Australia, but lost to the Aussies 106-75. Team USA faces the Australians on Wednesday in the first game of the quarterfinal elimination round.
