Ted Lilly Put on the Disabled List

Ted Lilly, a starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, has been placed on the disabled list. Lilly is going on the disabled list due to an inflamed left shoulder, however he’s also going to have arthroscopic left knee surgery.
The combination of injuries has Lilly estimating that he’ll miss about four starts. Its the first time he’s gone on the DL since 2005.

Tim Wakefield Headed to the DL

Tim Wakefield was in the middle of a dream season. Due to a lower back issue, Wakefield’s dream season will have to be put on hold. The Boston Red Sox placed the knuckleballer on the disabled list, however Wakefield apparently doesn’t believe this is a long-term injury.
“It’s a minor setback,” explained Wakefield, “that’s all.”
Earlier in the month, Wakefield was named to the All-Star team for the first time in his career — quite an accomplishment for a 42-year-old who has been in Major League Baseball since 1992.

Raul Ibanez Injury Update – Groin Strain

Raul Ibanez, who has arguably been the hottest player in all of Major League Baseball to begin the 2009 campaign, has been played on the 15-day disabled list by the Philadelphia Phillies. Ibanez has a strained groin that has bothered him for a while.
On the season, Ibanez is hitting .312 with 22 homers, 59 RBIs and 51 runs. At 37, he’s on pace to have the best season of his big league career.
