Don Nelson to Miss Game for Emergency

Don Nelson, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors and one of the winningest coaches in league history, will not coach the his team on Tuesday. Instead, he will be with his wife tending to a family emergency.
According to reports, Nelson’s wife recently learned that her brother was in a serious motorcycle accident. He has since had to have a leg amputated.
Tuesday the Warriors will be playing the Los Angeles Lakers. This will be the third game between the Warriors and Lakers in the preseason. The two teams have split the other contests.

Mikki Moore Signs with the Warriors

After splitting last season with the Sacramento Kings and the Boston Celtics, Mikki Moore has moved on to another team — the Golden State Warriors. Moore’s deal with the Warriors is reported worth $1.3 million over one season.
The 7-footer who played his college basketball at Nebraska gives the Warriors a player who not only has size but who is also mobile. Moore’s outside shooting is above average for a bigman, which fits in well with Golden State’s system.

Stephen Curry Is Staying In The Bay Area

Stephen Curry may have had his bags packed and ready for New York City, but much to the disappointment of the New York Knicks, he’ll be going to the West Coast instead.
Coach Don Nelson of the Golden State Warriors stole Curry right out from under the Knicks’ noses when he picked him 7th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.
To anyone out there who thinks Nelson is planning on trading Curry to the highest bidder (ahem, Phoenix Suns) — think again.

Cynthia “Coop” Cooper And C. Vivian Stringer Make Hall Of Fame Cuts

I think it’s always notable when women make the cuts for the Naismith Hall of Fame. Let’s face it — it’s not an everyday occurrence.
The field of Hall of Fame nominee list was trimmed down to 16 finalists from 164 names.
Rutgers women’s coach C. Vivian Stringer and two-time WNBA MVP Cynthia Cooper both made the cut (and deservingly so).
The Hall of Fame’s election announcement will be made April 6 at the NCAA Final Four in Detroit, with enshrinement in September at the Hall in Springfield, Mass. All 16 finalists are eligible:
