Stallworth received his jail sentence after reaching a plea dea on DUI manslaughter. In March, Stallworth hit and killed a pedestrian later identified as Mario Reyes. Tests found that Stallworth’s blood-alcohol level was over the legal limits in the state of Florida.

Currently suspended indefinitely by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, many league experts believe that the 28-year-old wide receiver wil never play in the league again. Last year, he played poorly for the Browns and Cleveland is likely to release him. Once a free agent, it’s expected that few teams will be willing to that the PR hit.

In his career, Stallworth has played for the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and the Browns after playing college football at Tennessee.

Though Stallworth faced more than 14 years in jail for the charge, pleading guilty will result in a short stint in jail. Once he is released, he will have to follow a number of stipulations and will face probation for the foreseeable future.

The agreement to plead guilty, which was reported by law authorities on Monday, reportedly is what the victim’s family wanted. According to police, Mario Reyes’ family wanted this legal ordeal finished as fast as possible.

Stallworth allegedly had a blood-alcohol level more than 50% higher than the .08 legal limit in the state of Florida. The incident took place in Miami.

The 28-year-old wide receiver is still a member of the Cleveland Browns. However, following this brush with the law, the NFL is sure to suspending for at least a couple games to begin the 2009 NFL season.

To replace the speedy wide receiver, the Browns have gone in a number of different directions. In the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Browns selected two wide receivers: Brian Robiskie of Ohio State and Tim Massaquoi of Georgia. In free agency, Cleveland has signed David Patten and Mike Furrey.

Patten played the last two season with the New Orleans Saints. At 34, Patten could offer experience to an otherwise without receiving corps. Furrey played the last three seasons with the Detroit Lions. In 2006, Furrey collected 98 receptions and more than 1,000 receiving yards while playing in Mike Martz’ high-powered offense.

Stay tuned to see if Cleveland adds any more talent next to Braylon Edwards to try to replace the probable loss of Donte Stallworth.

Donte Stallworth has officially been charged with DUI manslaughter after a “March 14 accident that killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes.”

Stallworth is a wide receiver with the Cleveland Browns, and had a blood-alcohol level of “.126, well above Florida’s legal limit of .08.” If convicted he could spent up to 15 years in prison.
Stallworth came forward right away when the accident happened, and has said that he is “grief-stricken” about the accident. The Browns have him on curfew and the league will review the case on its own since alcohol was involved.

Last season, Stallworth dealt with injuries for most of the year. In 11 games, he only had 17 receptions for 170 yards and one touchdown. The 28-year-old failed to live up to expectations after the Browns signed him as a free agent following a one-year stint with the New England Patriots.

It isn’t clear why the team with the highest average ticket prices in the NFL is price-gouging asking people to fork over a bigger chunk of their hard-earned paychecks. We can’t be certain, but here are 5 possible reasons that might explain the jump in prices:
1. The Pats need to pay for all those 19-0 t-shirts they printed.

It isn’t clear why the team with the highest average ticket prices in the NFL is <strike>price-gouging</strike> asking people to fork over a bigger chunk of their hard-earned paychecks. We can’t be certain, but here are 5 possible reasons that might explain the jump in prices:

1. The Pats need to pay for all those 19-0 t-shirts they printed.

2. They need to raise money just in case that $100M lawsuit from the St. Louis Rams goes anywhere.

3. They actually paid for Tom Brady’s vacation in Costa Rica vacation with Gisele Bundchen. (”Tom, you’re job is to create a diversion. Go to Central America with your honey and let the paparazzi follow. This will take the focus off the rest of us. Wear a Speedo if you have to.”)

4. They need to raise funds for Donte’ Stallworth’s $8M salary, not to mention whatever Randy Moss will want.

5. They need to pay out a whole lot of . . . oh, let’s call it ”protection money”. . . to all those Vegas bookies who are ticked at them for losing the Super Bowl.

The buzz in New England—and by “buzz” we mean “it was ‘breaking news’ on every station here for about 12 hours”—was Tom Brady’s no-show status at practice for the second day in a row.

Brady’s teammates, not to mention Coach Bill Belichick, joked around with the oh-so-curious press concerning the star quarterback’s whereabouts. Said wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth: “Bill actually brought me in his office earlier this morning and asked me if I wanted to move to quarterback, and we’re going to put in a whole new offense.”

Inspired by such wit, we’ve put together a list of the top 10 answers the New England Patriots could have (and maybe should have) said in response to the big question,

Where is Tom Brady?

1. “He’s got a ‘supporting‘ role in a new Bridget Moynahan film.”

2. “He’s kicking back for a few days with Peyton Manning. Apparently, Peyton’s feelings are hurt about not making it to the Super Bowl and brother Eli Manning just isn’t there for him the way Tom is.”

3. “‘Tom Brady’ doesn’t exist. He’s actually a government spy, and ‘record-breaking quarterback’ was just a cover. He’s gone dark.”

4. “He retired and moved to Brazil to start a lingerie company to rival Victoria’s Secret.”

5. “He took a job at McDonald’s instead, so listen closely next time you hear, ‘Do you want fries with that?’”

6. “He’s gone to look for Chuck Knoblauch.”

7. “He’s ’seen too much’ in the North End of Boston and is now in the witness protection program.”

8. “He just isn’t that into football anymore.”

9. “He and Gisele Bundchen went to Los Cabos. ’Why does Tony Romo get to have all the fun?’ Brady said.”

10. “He’s busy recruiting the paparazzi to film the New York Jets‘ defense in the endzone next season. Tom feels the shutterbugs have the subtlety required for the undercover job.”
