Doritos Collisions

The Idea
Doritos are coming out with a new product, 2 flavours in 1 bag, coming out on Aug 16th. To support this, they’ve made a series of videos, featuring the flavours as battling wrestling heroes.

There are 3 more in addition to El Zesto (Salsa), with Tenacious T(Beef), The Griller (grilled pepper) and Feathered Fury (chicken).
The main site is currently all tricked out with Collisions info, leading up to the launch. They also have a heavy media promotion with Bebo, where you can befriend the flavours – and if you make them your friends you get entered into a draw …read more

Videos 11 June

A clear winner in the product videos this week is from BMW; it’s a little of a surprise, as it’s documentary style, talking about the inspiration behind the new BMW GINA Light Visionary Model. It’s sitting at number 8 on the list, the sole representative in the chart.

Trends in the rest of the videos include Father’s Day, The Hulk Movie, NBA and lots of Euro08 football. The Doritos ad that I talked about the other day is also being heavily promoted on the site in the UK; there’s also a proze draw you can enter for a Canon camera.

Doritos Ad Winner

Doritos have sent me the news that the winner of their UK Make Your Own ad has been selected. I wrote about the campaign earlier in the year, picking up on how well Doritos run these.
The winner, in all it’s stop-motion glory, is Tribe by Matt B from London. Clear idea and well put together, I like this one. It’s going to air at 1944 on Sunday on ITV, which looks like it’ll be the first break in that evenings Euro2008 coverage, so they’re putting it right out there.

Doritos UK Make your own Ad

I never published the video list yesterday as I could not find any in the list, just politics, sport, sex and TV, the usual stuff! But the paid-for video is this one for Doritos, taking it’s ‘make your own ad’ in the UK. They are showcasing some of their entries and I quite like this

The contest is available at doritos.co.uk:

make a 29 second ad (and it has to be exactly 29 seconds) and load it up to their site by 18 May. This is one of the competitions in which you lose all rights in the …read more

Doritos Crash the Superbowl

Doritos are again doing a promotion around the superbowl, but this one is not as tied into the brand as last years, where fans put together a commercial, looking for the chance to have their shown during the biggest ad fest of the year (which is a good reminder to go and find out if the winners capitalised on their victory)
This year, the contest is far more customer focused – submit your song for a chance to win a recording contract and get a 60 second video on the ads during the game. Everything is focused around their MySpace …read more

Doritos and XBox360

Via Agency Spy, I see that the entries are actually now closed for the Doritos’ XBox Game Design competition. Five finalists have been chosen to be made into a demo, but things are not going too smoothly, with gamers challenging the creativity and originality of the games, plus the use of copyright materials loaded up to illustrate some of the winning games. Kontaku, the game blog, has this to say about it:
The winners were just announced. Sorry, that should read “winners”. Because there are no winners here. Only losers! See, Doritos have ignored the dozens of legitimate, and …read more
