I always thought that Double Fine Games was just a little bit… shall we say… “eclectic”. I mean, you just have to take a look at their website to know that there’s just something wrong with that production company. And then if you look deeper into Tim Shaefer’s random and off the wall news posts, then you definitely see that the company’s president must have been dropped on his head one too many times as a child.
So, with that, I introduce to you Double Fine’s very own new Mini-Games. And it’s as weird as you’d expect. The [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

I always thought that Double Fine Games was just a little bit… shall we say… “eclectic”. I mean, you just have to take a look at their website to know that there’s just something wrong with that production company. And then if you look deeper into Tim Shaefer’s random and off the wall news posts, then you definitely see that the company’s president must have been dropped on his head one too many times as a child.

So, with that, I introduce to you Double Fine’s very own new Mini-Games. And it’s as weird as you’d expect. The mini-games are called My Game About Me – “Olympic Challenge” and in it, you get to pick a character that suits you the most. I personally picked myself the emo kid with the black hair and big teeth. Then you pick your favorite sporting event – eating, sleeping or surfing. And then you get to play 1 of 3 games.

Really, it’s just something you have to play to experience for yourself. You won’t be sorry that you tried it. At least it’ll get you through your boring work day!

There are a lot of people out there that are super talented, especially when it comes to making crafty things like Christmas tree ornaments. My Christmas tree ornaments? All bought from the store. I mean, I’ve made my mom a couple of ornaments when I was a wee lass, but let’s just say that the quality was far from… well, quality work. My creative genes… well, let’s just say one of my brothers got all of those genes.

That’s why I like looking at stuff OTHER people have done, because it always turns out way better. The good people over at Double Fine asked their fans to put their creativity to use to create Christmas tree ornaments and decorations so that maybe Christmas will be a little brighter this year. Well, at least a little brighter over at the Double Fine office.

You know you want to go look at all the pretty stuff that everyone made. You can ooh and ahhh and maybe get a few ideas for a Christmas tree ornament of your own.

Double Fine’s new game Brutal Legend isn’t even out yet, but that shouldn’t stop a company from trying to make lots of money anyways by selling swag! Hell, if I had swag, I’d try to sell it and I don’t even have a game thought up on the horizon. I’d just put out some random crap that really has nothing to do with anything. And that’s why I would never make any money selling my own swag.
But, Double Fine has both the guts and the balls to sell whatever their little heart desires. Why? Because people like the games [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

It’s not much, as of yet, but if the Psychonauts stuff is any indication, by the time Brutal Legend IS out, then there will be all sorts of crap to buy! Yay!

If you are extremely lazy or don’t have good taste in games and you haven’t played the wonderful Psychonauts by the equally wonderful DoubleFine, you should be ashamed of yourselves!
There is no need to get in your car and drive down to Blockbuster, especially if you’ve been drinking, because seriously. It’s just as easy as pressing a few clickity buttons and BAM! You have a wonder adventure gaming classic in the palms of your hands. Literally. Because those XBox controllers seriously take up your entire hand. Why are they so freaking big?

The game is going to be available for a price of $15, which sounds like a reasonable price to me, especially since other online game download sites like Steam have the game listed for $19.95.

How does the Australian IGN get lucky enough to do an interview with Tim Schafer? Or could it be that Tim Schafer is too good to do an interview with the US version of IGN? Maybe that’s it. Maybe he really wishes he was just an Aussie, because he thinks they’re cool or something. Well, Tim, they’re not. Us Americans are way cooler than the Australians. Why? Because we drive on the right hand side of the road. Unlike the Aussies, who obviously drive on the left.
And that’s a problem for me and many of my fellow Americans.

I know. It seems like something as trivial as which side of the road you’re driving on wouldn’t be a big deal, but it is. It takes you from being the number 10 country to the number 1. Seriously.

Okay. I have no idea what I’m talking about. No, I don’t. But this interview does. It knows exactly what it’s talking about.

So, why don’t you read it. It’ll raise your IQ at least 25 points.

I love clicking on stuff, so this is the perfect website for the clickiest of clickers. You also get to use the keyboard keys to navigate the stage that our new hero, Eddie Riggs.

They definitely make the website entertaining. Which is good, because it’s Friday and I need me some entertainment.

I don’t think this is going to be your standard issued adventure game. Sweet! It’s a good thing I love axes!
The game will be out sometime in 2008 (duh) and the trailer says there’s a website, but when you check out BrutalLegend.com, nothing comes up. EVIL.

After waiting a long time to hear some news about Double Fine Games new game, we finally get to see some scans that shed a little light onto what we’ll soon get to play. The new game that’s being produced by Double Fine is called Brutal Legend and it’s everything you’d expect from a rock n’ rollin’ Tim Schaefer game. I mean, just take a look at the scans over at the Double Fine forums. Go on… read through the scans (which have the smallest print EVER in the world of print). You know you want to.

Okay, if you don’t want to, I’ll give you the skinny on what you’re going to expect from the new Double Fine game. You can expect craziness, that’s what. Okay… Here’s the story. There’s a roadie named Eddie Riggs who is awesome as far as the roadies go. And he has a cursed belt buckle, which leads to the demise of the human race. No, seriously. He gets blood on his belt buckle and the belt buckle’s beast comes to life, taking Eddie through time into a world ruled by demons who enslave the human race. Doesn’t that sound cool?! This weird world is also the world of rock legends, who kick some ass and play a mean riff on a guitar. These rock legends are so cool, that they literally become Gods. It all makes sense, doesn’t it?! The only thing left behind after these Gods go to rock heaven is their rockin’ relics – you know, their guitars. None of the humans or demons understand these awesome relics, but one man does. Eddie Riggs.

Eddie, upon being thrust into this strange, yet awesome world, gets to kick some ass, find some cool people to hang out with and free this world from the clutches of evil demons by rocking out at the world’s biggest rock concert of the century. Sounds pretty bad assed doesn’t it? It’s a good thing I’ve been playing a lot of Guitar Hero lately, or I wouldn’t have had any idea what half the article was talking about.

Can’t wait to see the game. Oh, yes. We shall rock until we cats can’t rocks no mores.

And according to this article over The International House of Mojo, I can quickly sum up what else we can expect from the game, because I can’t read through the little print of that article any longer. Here it goes:

You get to make people bleed with your very own battle axe. Sweet.

It’s an adventure with a RPG feel. Sweet Jesus.

There is an online multiplayer mode to rock out with your friends across the seven seas.

Lots of missions so you won’t ever get bored.

The game shall be released on the PS3 and the XBox360. DAMN IT

I’m sure we shall learn more about the game as we get closer to the release date which is… well, I don’t know when. But I’m sure it’ll be one of these days.

EDIT TO SAY: I’m an idiot. Doublefine was pulling my chain. To play this new game, merely click here. It’s pretty fun. Even though I LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.

Oh yes! FINALLY! A new game has been announced from Doublefine and it looks like all the rumors I heard were right! Check it!

In this all new, action based IP, you play the part of a barbaric hero in an epic fantasy world, fighting his way from Rock and Roll Hell to Rock and Roll Heaven.

That’s right! You get to fight your way from Rock and Roll Hell right to Rock and Roll Heaven. The only thing that hasn’t been confirmed is the piece about Jack Black being the guy behind the character. I guess we’ll find out more in a the coming weeks.

Check out what Tim Schaefer says about it:

“We’ve been dying to talk about this game for so long,” says Double Fine President and CEO, Tim Schafer, “It feels great to finally be able to share it with the world. The team has put so much hard work into this title, and I think the wait was worth it. We’ve been able to put an extra layer of polish on the game, which is really important considering it has innovative features that are relatively new territory for us: A deep combat system, selectable characters, and dynamic dialog matrix that is completely different every time you play the game.”

A combat system, you say? Excellent.

And what’s better? You get to purchase the game through digital download! OH YES.

Definitely can’t wait to see this game. It’ll be puuuurty.
