Derrick Mason Decides Not to Retire

A few weeks ago, Derrick Mason announced to the world that he would be retiring from the NFL. However, the Baltimore Ravens recently got good news when Mason announced that he has changed his mind. The 35-year-old Mason will instead enter his fifth year with the Ravens.
“I felt like I had left something undone, and I wanted to finish it,” Said Mason in a statement. “I believe this is a good example for my son and my daughter on how to be thoughtful and also follow through.”

Drew Bennett Retires from the NFL

A couple days ago, we announced that the Baltimore Ravens had signed Drew Bennett. Late on Sunday, Bennett told the Ravens that he was going to retire. Well, that was fast.
This is the second time the Ravens have been surprised by a wide receiver retiring this offseason. Earlier in the month, Derrick Mason said he was going to retire. Considering that Bennett was signed partly due to Mason’s announcement, this is a rather ironic turn of events.
Bennett blames injury as the cause of his retirement.

Baltimore Ravens Ink Drew Bennett

The Baltimore Ravens entered the offseason thinking about adding a veteran wide receiver to their offensive equation. When Derrick Mason recently announced his retirement, that wide receiving need intensified. On Friday, the Ravens acted on their need by signing Drew Bennett.
Last season, Bennett was injured after catching just one pass. After spending his first six seasons in the league with the Tennessee Titans, Bennett played his last two seasons with the St. Louis Rams. His best season came in 2004 when he caught 80 passes for 1,247 yards and 11 touchdowns — all career-high totals.

Drew Bennett Revisits the Titans

As an undrafted player out of UCLA, Drew Bennett was able to catch on with the Tennessee Titans. Eight years later, Bennett is looking to revive his NFL career. Recently, he visited with the Titans about a possible deal.
From 2001 until 2006, Bennett played for the Titans. His best year came in 2004 when he had 80 catches for 1,247 yards and 11 touchdowns. After leaving the Titans, he signed with the St. Louis Rams.
