Excited?
It first came out for the DS and it will be out for the PSP in late October. Now, it’s been announced that China Town Wars will be coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch this fall.
That’s exciting, right?
Now, you don’t have to wait until you get home to slap some hoes and steal some cars.

Excited?

It first came out for the DS and it will be out for the PSP in late October. Now, it’s been announced that China Town Wars will be coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch this fall.

That’s exciting, right?

Now, you don’t have to wait until you get home to slap some hoes and steal some cars.

CNET points out an interesting contradiction in Apple’s App store policies since in the past, Apps have been rejected due to curse words and other “lewd” content. However, Krapps reported on a disturbing App that verges on kiddie porn.

The whole point is that China Town Wars isn’t exactly tame but it’s been approved and that makes me wonder who exactly is doing the approving. I’m not saying that China Town shouldn’t have been approved but I am saying that Apple needs to figure out the rules and stick to them.

Anyway, look for Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars on the iPhone and iPod Touch after it hits the PSP.

Dragon Quest’s Slime is like an entity on its own. It can change into any color or any shape or any function, that is if it wants to. For instance, the Dragon Quest Slime Speaker Stand by Hori can act as a speaker and a stand for your Nintendo DS. It can keep your DS upright and free your hands to do other stuff.

The Slime is also an external speaker to boost the sound from your video games to another level. Honestly, some think that this blue thingy is cuter than their boyfriends.

A Nintendo DS glucose reader for kids that can be plugged into the DS or DS Lite’s Slot-2 has came been out on the market. Paul Wessel, the parent of a diabetic child, has helped to develop the Bayer’s DIDGET meter which can reward children for consistent testing.

Test results can be converted into reward points which can be used in the game to unlock levels and purchase in-game stuff. The games are Knock ‘Em Down: World’s Fair video game and Mini Game Arcade.
A pretty useful DS device to help the kids but not for the DSi though.

I’m super bummed that this isn’t coming to the PS3. That’s right. I was a HUGE fan of Kingdom Hearts when it first came out on the PS2 and I’ve been patiently waiting for it’s return to Sony but alas, it appears that isn’t going to happen.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is slotted to hit the DS in the US in late September of this year and since I really don’t have any plans of getting a DS, I suppose I’m stuck watching trailers.
It is a rather good trailer though.

The economic storm, financial crisis or bad money outlook. Whatever name it takes, there are losses and job cuts everywhere, including the video games industry. Microsoft and Sony have slashed their manpower but the big N reports record profit.
Nintendo made 279.1bn yen for the financial year ending 31st March this year and was optimistic about the video games industry as a whole.
Well, either M, S or N, we gamers will devote ourselves and our $ to all.

Maybe they decided that the game wouldn’t sell as well on the PS2?

Who knows?

One thing I do know is that I shant be doing a review on Corine since I sold my PS2 a couple of years ago to buy my PS3. You’ll have to let me know how the game is.

And, some pretty pictures:

I never thought I’d see the day that Boulder Dash gets a makeover for modern consoles. Well, the game isn’t that old. Boulder Dash was originally released in 1984 for the Apple II, MSX, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Atari 400/800 home computers. Later, the game was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System, Acorn Electron (what the hell is an Acorn Electron?), Amstrad CPC, Amiga, and the PC. I just find Boulder Dash—the original, that is—so unimaginative and boring.

Wait! Before you start stoning me, you might want to take a gander at this:

Like I said, unimaginative and boring.

Fortunately for Boulder Dash fans out there, the game has been remade into Boulder Dash: Rocks!, which is, thanks to digital and technological evolution, way better than the original. And thanks to a friend who owns both a Nintendo DS and a copy of Boulder Dash: Rocks!, I found the time to enjoy the classic without the irritating sounds produced by the original Boulder Dash.

Aside from graphics and sound upgrades, there’s also a big change in the background story. Instead of simply being Rockford the Prospector, the hero of Boulder Dash gets a real heroic goal in the guise of Crystal, the girl of his dreams that craves shiny large rocks. Bling! Bling!

Let me just shut up and let a video do the talking:

I remember playing this classic on the Nintendo Family Computer with my sister Pepper, and we spent countless hours trying to master it. TwinBee, as most of you may recall, is a 1985 side-scrolling shooter released by Konami for the arcade. Fortunately for those who don’t have the funds and the time to spend at the arcades, TwinBee was ported to the Famicom the following year.

Since I had been playing TwinBee with Pepper, I remember having the power to wipe out enemy units—mostly flying fruits and vegetables like eggplants and strawberries and dinnerware such as forks, plates and knives—with twin blasters. So when I finally got the chance to play TwinBee again, I was continuously trying to make the little bee fire two shots.

My bad. It turns out you can’t make the twin come out unless you play in two-player mode. Duh.

Here’s a short guide on how to make the most of your TwinBee playing experience:

Like most side-scrolling shooters of its time, TwinBee’s gameplay is very simple. Players use TwinBee in a short string of six levels that repeats infinitely. Of course, the game isn’t complete without the requisite boss monsters at the end. Both characters, or bees, start out with a single shot for aerial enemies, and the ability to launch bombs to destroy targets on the ground. When a bee is hit in the wings, the wings drop off and the bee will lose the ability to drop bombs. Fortunately, an ambulance bee appears to repair the damage. The trick, however, is in catching the ambulance with the ailing bee.

One of the more important features of TwinBee is its power-up system. When a bee shoots its weapon into a cloud, a bell will pop out and drop to the bottom of the screen. Depending on the color of the bell when the bee touches it, a specific power-up or points will be obtained. The color of the bell can be changed by shooting at it continuously until the desired color comes out. Beware, though, as shooting the bell too many times may cause it to turn into a color that can kill the bee that touches it.

Here’s the more exciting part for two-player mode. You can go co-op by combining the two bees side by side. The upside is you get double the firepower, especially if you manage to obtain the double-shot power-up from a bell. The downside, though, is two bees joined at the hip presents a much bigger target for enemies.

Ever wonder how the modern video game console controller came to be? Well, thanks to the ingenious Sock Master, we now have a pretty good idea. Here’s a little tidbit from his “study” entitled “Sock Master’s Game Console Controller Family Tree”:

How did the current home-console controllers come to be? How have they evolved? You may have noticed some similarities between the current generation controllers, or between them and the previous generations of controllers. So, how do they all tie together?

Let’s try to find out. I’ve put together a chart, or controller family tree, that tries to connect all the current console controllers with their predecessors. Firstly, I don’t think anyone else has tried to do something similar on the Web, and secondly, none of the manufacturers actually come out and tell you who they’re borrowing ideas from. This means that a lot of the information presented here is my opinion. I try to keep things accurate, using facts I know, but also making some of my own conclusions where no hard evidence is available.

Suffice it to say that Sock Master has done a good job at assembling his little project, from the old school Atari 2600 joystick to the sensational Nintendo Wiimote.

Nintendo Wiimote: Junior

Here, take a gander at Sock Master’s work.
