Threatening eMails from Other eBay Members

Threatening another eBay member is a violation of eBay policy, and can be considered a criminal offens depending on the type of threat. If you ever receive a threatening email from another member, do not hesitate to report it, especially if it is a threat of bodily or physical harm.
Report threats to eBay Trust and Safety, and to your local law enforcement. Your local police or sheriff’s office will send an officer to your home to take the report, so save the emails as law enforcement will need these as evidence. If the offender is stupid enough to send the …read more

eBay Feedback Revision Now Available

According to a post on eBay’s Announcement Board, feedback revision is now available to sellers. Ok, so what does this even mean? Sellers can now send requests to buyers asking them to change the feedback left – such as negative and neutrals left before a problem was resolved to the buyer’s satisfaction.
To access the feedback revision form, click on your feedback page. At the top of the page, click on FEEDBACK FORUM. Once on that page, on the right side under FEEDBACK TOOLS, choose REQUEST FEEDBACK REVISION.

Ever Wonder Why an eBay Listing is Removed?

Have you ever received an email from eBay stating, “We appreciate that you chose eBay to list your eBay Stores listing(s). However, we have removed your (s) because it breaches our (fill in the blank) policy. We notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled.”
I noticed that quite a few other sellers have the same item up for sale. So I replied to eBay with this question,”Hello, my listing XYZ was removed as it is not allowed. I see that quite a few other sellers are offering the exact same product, and their listings …read more

eBay Search and Browse Manipulation Policy

Clever (devious?) eBay sellers have learned how to create their listings in a way that will manipulate eBay searches to get more hits. Here is eBay’s Search Manipulation Policy:
“Members are not permitted to engage in any activity for the purpose of inappropriately gaining attention or diverting members to a listing. This includes any activity that harms the shopping experience by making it difficult for buyers to find the items they are looking for. Ultimately, it is the seller’s responsibility to ensure that each listing accurately reflects the item being sold, while not using any unfair methods to divert members to …read more

Announcement: eBay Links Policy Remains the Same

Back in May, eBay announced that the links policy governing outgoing links on listings and other pages would change. Many eBay sellers were concerned and upset about this change and let their feelings be known to eBay execs at eBay Live in Chicago.
Most of the concern about this change revolves around affiliate programs and website links on eBay users’ About Me pages. The About Me page is the only place on eBay where users can link to their own website, affiliate programs, groups, forums, blogs, etc. Larger sellers use this feature strictly for lead generation, building their customer base, or …read more

Great News for eBay Sellers – Neutrals No Longer Count as Negatives

Well, it looks like sellers have made enough noise for the execs at eBay to let neutrals count as neutrals, instead of negatives. (Kinda makes sense, right?) According to this post on the eBay Announcement Board, beginning in late August, neutrals will not have any impact on the calculation of the feedback percentage. As of now, here is how feedback is calculated:
Positives

Positives + Negatives + Neutrals
Under the new (sensible) calculation, the formula looks like this:

eBay Policy Change – No More Outgoing Links on About Me Page

Add another item to the “Not allowed on eBay” list.
Historically, an eBay seller’s About Me Page has been a place where sellers can explain their policies, tell a little bit about their business, and until now, provide links to their own website or other affiliate programs. Those days are gone.
The updated eBay Links Policy states: “You may include links to your About Me page in your listings. However, you may not include language within those links that promotes items or other Web sites.”
Over the years, entrepreneurs have discovered how to use eBay as a portal to capture a segment of …read more
