The NYT revealed Ashley to be the alleged prostitute in the downfall of New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, even linking to her MySpace profile. Her MySpace profile, in turn, links to her Amie Street profile where she sells her songs.

Song price on Amie Street is based on popularity. Last night, Peter Kafka saw her single What We Want — quoted in the NYT story — selling at 30 cents. Before midnight, it hit Amie Street’s top price at 98 cents.

Nice little chain reaction there. If this girl’s smart, she’ll monetize her newfound notoriety at Internet speed.
