But beyond gasping for air and feeling icy cold, what can a cold shower do for you? I’ll start off with the health benefits and then my experience.

Stimulates your circulation

cleans toxins from your body

improves skin

improves hair

I adopted taking cold showers in the spirit of turning over that imaginary leaf for this school year. And now that I’ve said that the next time I see a leaf, I’m turning it over – for real. Continuing, I really have felt some trace of rejuvination after over a week straight of taking a cold shower every morning.

My shower routine is a cold shower in the morning and a warm shower at night. The logic is this will help me wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night. My body will physically be sent a message.

As far as effects, a cold shower feels scintillating and for the first few days left me gasping, but after about 10 days, I’m starting to get accustomed to it and I actually look forward to it now. One of the other side effects I read about for cold showers is a mental or even spiritual one. If I had a vote, I’d say my mind is better for it.

A cold shower is one way to feel an extreme. Jump right in and feel the benefits.

I went into the gym with a renewed sense of purpose today and my performance level was great in terms of gaining back the strength and endurance that will be rightfully mine once again. I think this workout will be a turning point in my uphill climb to exceed my peak performances of years ago. I somehow tapped into a long lost source of relentless energy and aggression that had me churning out reps at an incredible rate.

I got to the gym about 30 minutes earlier than I usually do, but I lasted the whole way through at a high level. I also did something I don’t think I’ve ever done before – I integrated curls into my bench press, tricep, and shoulder day. I just felt like doing it so I did. My exercises included:

bench press

incline bench flies

standing dumbell shoulder press

lateral shoulder flies

tricep rope pull down

skull crushers w/ after presses

regular curls

cross chest curls

palm down wrist lifts

wrist curls

incline bench curls

tricep pullovers

shoulder shrugs

standing ez bar curls

Maybe more, I didn’t write anything down. I just jumped into the workout and didn’t let up. Not writing your workout down goes against my own advice I give on here but I am terrible at journaling or recording what I do. I’m lazy like that. I don’t want to expend any more time writing down stuff because I’ve already done it. I’ll know the results when I see them.

I do think it’s a good idea and can be helpful. I’ve tried and failed at logging my workouts literally 10s of times and I would love to have a compilation, but it’s probably not going to be in the cards for me. I’ll still try to write down everything I do and log it on this weight lifting blog, but I hope you’ll understand when I can’t remember everything including reps, sets, and weight.

Awesome workout today. The bench press was at 225 and my curls were at 50 so I’m creeping back into my own picture.

I also talked to a friend of mine who mentioned a new member that was pressing 315 lbs. He said he talked to the guy who told him he was up to as much as 450 lbs but then admitted he was a former user. The guy said he is now suffering the effects with his kidneys and liver.

I hope his health improves and I give the guy credit for admitting he was taking steroids when he had such impressive numbers. I mean he didn’t have to say that. I’ll often take someone at their word if they tell me something like that, especially if its visibly credible so for him to admit taking steroids on his own omission says he’s at least honest with himself.

He took steroids. He put up some massive weight and now he’ll straight up tell you. Apparently a lot of people were into them so he’s no isolated rogue wolf. I think it’s cheating in some sense or another, but it seems like primarily he cheated himself and now he’s paying for it.

I’m physically fatigued now, but I’m going to try to get in at least 100 ab reps during the Lakers/Nuggets game and then hopefully push myself out the door and get in 20 minutes of whatever type of run or jog I can muster.

How this will work is that the processor will slow down when it’s not needed to do what processors do. For me it’s like saying, “You know you’d save more gas if you didn’t keep your engine at 4000RPM’s at the stoplight.”

But with all this talk about being green, does it really impact your opinion or perception of Microsoft? Don’t get me wrong, I think they should pursue this type of stuff by default, but I also wonder what other areas of the environment they impact as an organization that might have more impact.

What do you think?
