If you are a fan of the Cleveland Browns and you are worried about Derek Anderson’s calf injury, you can put those worries to rest. According to a number of reports, Anderson will be ready for the beginning of Browns training camp.
It’s good news for the Browns that Anderson is healthy because they have a very interesting quarterback controversy. Competing with Anderson will be Brady Quinn — the former quarterback for Notre Dame.
Anderson was injured earlier in the offseason while participating in minicamp. The team doesn’t expect to have to limit him in training camp.
Right now, most team insiders believe …read more
Browns Quarterback Position Up for Grabs
March 24, 2009 by Stephen Kersey

All Cleveland Browns fans have the same question — who will start at quarterback? Will it be 2007 Pro Bowler Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn, the young signal caller with untapped potential.
On Tuesday, Browns head coach Eric Mangini answered the question yet Browns fans were left at square one. Mangini said that the starting quarterback position is up for grabs and that a decision won’t be made until after an open competition during minicamp and the exhibition season.
The 6-foot-6 Anderson appeared to be heading toward stardom after throwing 29 touchdown passes and for nearly 3800 yards in 2007. However, last …read more
Jets Need Mangini for Cutler Trade

What’s that they say about burnt bridges? Looks like the Jets will have to walk over a burnt bridge in order to get the help of one Eric Mangini, their former coach who they dumped after this season. Mangini had winning seasons two out of the three seasons he coached the Jets, put apparently in New York that is just not good enough darnit!
But now the Jets will need Mangini to help them get Jay Cutler. Cutler is currently with the Broncos and it appears they won’t give him a new contract. So the Jets want …read more
No Jet-ribution; Plus, a Funny Story About the “Horrible” Thing That Happened to Brady

Yes, we’re pleased as Punch, perhaps even more so, that new-New England Patriots QB Matt Cassel showed Frosty the Snowman Eric Mangini and the New York Jets that the so-called “Jet-ribution” wasn’t to be had after all.
But one of our good friends gave us a little perspective the other day concerning the end of Tom Brady’s 2008 season. We’ll take a smidge of poetic license here but this is the gist:
Hubby is watching TV and has just seen the story that Tom Brady is out for the season. Wife enters room immediately after and . . .
Hubby, still facing TV: …read more

Yes, we know everyone is suffering from Favre fatigue. We thought the other day that the end of the drama was nigh. It is. It has to be, right? Right?!
It’s not quite over yet, though, and today brought an impressive plot twist. Here’s what sports writers and bloggers are saying about the unretired, reinstated, ex-Green Bay Packers quarterback right now:

Brett Favre’s Cell Phone Messages

Yes, we heard the latest rumor about Brett Favre talking to the New York Jets, and no, we don’t know why he’d want to go play for Eric “Don’t I Look Like Frosty the Snowman” Mangini. (Don’t mind us. We’re just New England Patriots fans, which means our post-Spygate feelings for the portly coach are about as warm as a Slush Puppie).
Maybe someone should ask John Madden? Or at least Frank Caliendo doing John Madden?
Anyway, Frank Coffey and his Goodfellas at eTrueSports did their usual digging for the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and here’s what they came up …read more

Bridget Moynahan on Being Brady-less
February 11, 2008 by Jodie Lynn Boduch

Bridget Moynahan, mom to Tom Brady’s tot, is ready for her close up.
The pre-Gisele girlfriend of the New England Patriots QB chats with her pal—and birthing partner—Sam Harris about life with baby and without Brady (hence the need for Harris to step up to the plate).
Little John Edwards Thomas Moyhanan was born August 22. (And he already has his own blog, too). Spygate hit a few weeks later, but the name “JET” Moynahan really has us wondering if Bridget got a little help from Eric Mangini on that one.
If you don’t have 9m, 22s to kill, check out a few snippets of their convo at People.com.

What would the tail end of December be without a handy-dandy list of the year’s best and worst? Here we go, in no particular order:
BEST
Tackle: This one is not only easy, it’s a post-Christmas gift to bloggers and bloggerettes everywhere. NFL official James Quirk pulled down linebacker Nick Barnett of the Green Bay Packers in the December 23 game against the Chicago Bears. Quirk got fined $8,150 for the incident, but at least he got a shout-out from Gossip on Sports.
