2009 Zenn Electric

One of the only fully electric cars on the market right now is the all new Zenn Electric. Z.E.N.N. stands for Zero Emission, No Noise. Fitting description for this first ever consumer affordable electric car.
The company was created by a few Canadians and is based out of Toronto. The team fealt like the electric car was something smaller companies can finally develop to get their foot in the door and compete with other big car manufacturers.
And they were right, we are now starting to see smaller companies emerge like ZENN and Tesla in making great new electric cars.
The Zenn is a great choice …read more

What is the future of cars?

I just finished reading an article titled “Plug-In Electric Cars Are Not the Future” by Michael Kwan over at Mobile Magazine. I won’t go into too much detail since you might want to read the article yourself.
He basically says that hydrogen fuel-cells are the future and that plug in electric cars are going to die because they have no range and are not convenient. Honestly though, what could be more convenient than plugging your car in an outlet at home at night. As far as range goes, the Telsa has a battery range of 300 miles. The technology is there …read more

Electro Metro/Swift/Firefly – in electric blue!

I know the back of the car says Geo Swift, but trust me. It’s a Metro. O a Firefly. I would know that car anywhere. It is the same model (and color) as my first auto, the Blueberry, and (as an electric conversion … costing under $1000!) is aptly named, The Forkenswift.

G-Wiz Revisited

I posted recently about the G-Wiz having undergone tweaking to make it a safer car. A reader called me to task for reporting one-side of the story and I promised I would look into it.

A word on EV safety

It’s important to distinguish between electric vehicles and electric cars when considering safety features. Just because something passes federal safety standards doesn’t mean it’s passed safety standards for traditional cars. Just as importantly, being “all electric” doesn’t mean it falls below those standards either.

Toyota’s Gone Econ w/ 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Econ Mode allows the engine to run more efficiently by pushing the engine less. It addresses the biggest hits to fuel economy – stomping on the gas and needlessly wasting fuel by accelerating more ferociously than need be – and in doing so, will make a real difference in the miles per gallon seen in real world usage.

Prius, RAV4 EV, and Highlander go Solar

From ScrippsNews:

”A traditional hybrid charges its electrical battery from energy created when the gas engine is running. The owner of a plug-in hybrid can plug it into a regular wall socket overnight and start the day with a fully charged battery. That can reduce the amount of gas the Prius uses.
The solar kits push it one step further, giving motorists a little extra energy while they’re sitting in traffic or waiting to pick the kids up from soccer practice.
A solar Prius will use 17 percent to 29 percent less gasoline than a standard Prius, according to a research paper on …read more

Canada approves electric car – Go ZENN!

Transport Canada has given the ZENN the National Safety Mark. This means they meet Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and that individual provinces can finally decide whether they can be used on public roads.

AMERICA is killing the Canadian EV??

In truth, Americans make up the majority of the Canadian EV market. Unfortunately, laws in Canada – and a handful of states in the US – mean that most electric vehicles simply aren’t fast enough to be considered “road worthy.”
