I’ve been playing around with a few ideas lately and one of them involved thinking about all the different tools I use for blogging throughout the day. I work with a number of clients that get started blogging or using WordPress as a CMS solution.
Frequently when talking to them about how to get started I begin talking about some other great tools that I use to organize your thoughts and create your posts and pages for your website. Most of these tools are free, or free with premium versions as well. All of them have been incredibly useful to …read more

Today was the first day for the 2009 Blog Indiana conference in Indianapolis. This conference is the first conference I’ve attended since I really started jumping into Evernote and using it more and more.
Granted a note-taking application should be performing well in this type of setting. You’re taking notes at a conference with various sessions. The difference though is that there’s so many other nice touches that make it very helpful in this situation.
One of the first things I did was to import the PDF of the conference schedule and session agenda into the notebook I setup just for the …read more

Tonight I was reminded and informed that Evernote has a premium service available that expands the functionality and allows me to import any file type into my Evernote program. That would make my new little shortcut even more useful.
The idea of software as a service (SAAS) isn’t really new these days as more and more applications and services are delivered via the web and via a subscription model. Wikipedia defines SAAS as the following:
Software as a Service (SaaS, typically pronounced ’sass’) is a model of software deployment whereby a provider licenses an application to customers for use as a …read more

I’ve really started using my phone more and more to get information and resources I need while I’m on the move. The only problem lately is that some apps I’ve been trying to install on my phone won’t let me install to the storage card.
Some of my current favorite mobile apps have been PocketTwit, Google Maps, YouTube, Evernote and others. Some of these apps I’ve been able to install successfully to my 2GB MicroSD card and some won’t let me install to that location.
Anyone know of a reason why? Is this a problem with the application itself, the phone, or …read more

I’ve been playing around with the Evernote website and application for the last few weeks. As I get more things going on with blogging and other social media items, I keep trying to organize my thoughts and what I call “blogging fodder” together into something cohesive and easy to manage.
Prior to using Evernote I was using a combination of simple text files and Google Notebook to organize websites and other things I’d find online.
The Evernote application has been great. Mainly because it allows me to add items through the stand-alone application, the website if I’m on someone else’s computer, there’s …read more
