Far Cry 2 'TGS 2008' trailer HD

High ground gives advantage in Far Cry 2

There’s a new trailer for Far Cry 2 showing some more gameplay mechanics. This time, it’s about gaining the high ground to “win.” Unfortunately, all the advantage offered by high ground won’t be much help if you can’t shoot a lick.
Let me guess. Gamepad? No wonder.
For what it’s worth, this guy can shoot better than me when using a controller. I, however, don’t use controllers when playing first-person shooters.

Far Cry 2 videos show off oodles of gameplay

Joystiq has gone nuts with Far Cry 2, posting several videos from GameTrailers. See, they’re not your typical hype videos that would eventually be used as ads because a lot of gameplay is crammed in each clip. Watch all the Far Cry 2 videos after the jump. Don’t forget the popcorn because this might take a while.

Release date for Far Cry 2 revealed, causes purchasing headaches

This year’s holiday season is beginning to look like last year’s, especially for the FPS genre. Last year, there was an influx of marquee shooters such as The Orange Box (which contained several high-quality games), Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Bioshock, Crysis, and Unreal Tournament 3.
Far Cry 2 will be joining this year’s batch of top-tier games as it lands on store shelves this October 21 in North America and October 24 in Europe. The Ubisoft shooter will have versions for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Other high-profile games coming out in the …read more

Ubisoft: Immersion in Far Cry 2 goes beyond graphics and sound

Am I the only drooling at the prospect of playing and owning Far Cry 2, the upcoming FPS by Ubisoft? I may have originally considered it a mere rental, but ever since the map editor was introduced, my perception about the game has changed. This new video about Far Cry 2 aiming to “immerse the player in the avatar’s physicality” is merely icing on the cake.
I just hope the treatments for the various injuries in Far Cry 2 would be in context. I would really hate to pull out a shrapnel out of the character’s leg if the damage sustained …read more

Far Cry 2 map editor shows the big picture

Far Cry 2 is coming with a map editor, but it’s not your ordinary map editor. Normally, such editors, especially those for first-person shooters, are a tad unwieldy. And usually, map editors are released for PC versions of multiplatform games because the console editions don’t have the necessary peripherals (i.e. keyboards and mice) to manipulate such software intuitively.
Based on what we’ve seen from the Far Cry 2 map editor, that might all change. Doubtful that you can create a detailed set piece using an Xbox 360 controller? Watch the clip and it WILL change your mind.
That said, it’s still unclear …read more

GameAxis: Far Cry 2 is racism free

A lot of buzz has been generated over the racism “issue” in Resident Evil 5, the latest entry in the popular survival-horror series, because of its Africa setting. Interestingly, Far Cry 2 is an upcoming FPS that’s also set in Africa but it never seemed to have generated the same sort of talk.
GameAxis has recently shared the new Far Cry 2 video and announced that it is “racism free.” How so? Because the latest trailer shows that you can shoot a variety of people in the face, regardless of skin color. That’s right folks, killing hordes of people is morally …read more

Far Cry 2 PC system requirements announced

This just in: Ubisoft has finally announced the minimum system requirements for Far Cry 2. While the upcoming FPS is indeed looking sweet, the required specs sure aren’t pretty. Thankfully, it’s also coming out for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 so if you have either console, there’s nothing to worry about. Unless you hate using dual analog sticks for shooting.
To run Far Cry 2, you’ll need the following:

Far Cry 2 video combines intro and developer commentary

Far Cry has always been known for its cutting-edge visuals and wide-open levels. If you were disappointed to hear that Crytek, the game’s original developer, won’t be around for the sequel, you’d be happy to know that Far Cry 2 is looking very promising indeed.

Far Cry 2’s latest trailer isn’t impressive

You may be waiting forever for another look at Far Cry 2. The things we’ve seen so far are concept art and spectacular gameplay footage. Ubisoft has just released a new trailer showing off the sequel’s Dunia engine, but it doesn’t do the game justice.
