Saving a Group of Files for Repeat Uploads in FileZilla

I’m currently managing over 50 WordPress installations and continuing adding new clients that I begin installing WordPress for their use as well. As part of my management of their sites, I have a group of WordPress plugins that I like to use and always install for clients.
I’ve chosen FileZilla as my FTP program of choice. I’ve used CuteFTP, SmartFTP, and FireFTP within Firefox to manage transferring files. Given that I’m using FileZilla and it’s a powerful application there’s something I’d think it should be able to do and it can’t.

I/O Error When Transferring Files

I’ve been trying to transfer a large number of files between a portable Western Digital 250GB hard drive and a secondary drive on another computer via a network. I’m running XP Pro on my laptop.
Smaller files are usually okay, but when I try and transfer some larger ones over 2GB up to 5GB I’ll get the following just about every time.
The text of the error message is:
Cannot copy [FILENAME]: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
