Flower – Three Hours Well Spent

Flower is a game that epitomizes what I think a casual game should be: cheap, short, and engaging.
At $9.99, Flower is less expensive that most casual games that you download to your PC.  I stated playing Flower at 3pm and finished it around 6pm.  That included a bathroom break and the occasional break to take care of my kids.
The first thing that you see when you start Flower is a very depressing grey metropolis.  The world is pretty much devoid of anything pretty or even living for that matter.
The only thing that’s not mechanical or grey is a sad looking …read more

L.O.B.E.

You know that you’ve fallen prey to the curse of casual gaming when you start playing a game in the morning and when you next look up, it’s time for dinner.
That’s what happened to me with L.O.B.E.
The premise is simple.  Shuffle the brain to show a seven different mini-games to take on.  You start off with normal [with each game] and then progress to “genius”.
Each minigame will challenge you in different ways.
If you LOVE equations then there’s a game for you – E-Quations is the game for you.  Really like Tetris?  Then you really like Tanablocks.  My personal favorite is …read more

Make Me Mini

So if Mr. Potato Head is considered a game then I can call MSN Messenger’s new “Minimize Me” a game.  Basically you create a version of yourself and then use the cute little doppelgänger with MSN Messenger.  You have the option of just saving your “mini me” or you can download yourself directly into MSN Messenger.  Also included in the download are a new set of emoticons customized with your new character.
Make your own or choose from the assortment of “celebrities”

Here’s the one that I created of myself.  I’m wearing my ninja outfit for stealthy casual gaming.

Kamicrazy On iTunes

40 levels of an awesome puzzle game are now available for you downloading pleasure over at iTunes.
You can get the “lite” eight level version for free or fork over the paltry sum of $3.99 for all amazing 40 levels.  [Why not just make it an even four bucks?]
Stuart Varrall, founder of Fluid Pixel Studios, expects the game to prove a hit. He says: “It’s a fun game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, the style will appeal to audiences worldwide and it’s easy to pick-up-and-play.”
That’s what I like a game developer to say about their game: a game that doesn’t …read more

Metal Gear Solid Touch Next Metal Gear Solid Game

All of the rumors are true.
The next game in the Konami’s stable of Metal Gear Solid games is in fact a PHONE GAME!  No need for a 360 or PS3 if you have an iPhone Touch.
Metal Gear Solid is set right after Metal Gear Solid Four and will have eight different levels of custom content.  Kotaku is claiming unlockable Metal Gear iPhone wallpapers and there might be more levels at a later date.
I think that this is a smart/bold move for Konami.  Not only are they tapping into the MGS crowd of fanatic fans but they are also tapping into …read more

Christmas Brings Cheap Games

Christmas is on it’s way and Popcap is taking full advantage of that by offering its loyal customers discounts on games in its game stable.  Every day offers a new discounted game for your downloading enjoyment.
Today {the 11th} it’s Amazing Adventures Around the World with 30% off of the game.  Yesterday, it was 30% off of Mystery PI: The Vegas Heist.  So, instead of paying $19.95 for the games, you’ll pay $13.96.  Not a 1/2 bad price to play for some REALLY addictive games.

Game Finds Tuesday: TownSquare

I remember, in one boring college class, a seat mate taught me this game where you connect a grid of dots on paper, using lines, whether it be horizontal or vertical. The object of the game is to close a cube or more and close up the most number cubes on the grid.
I had the fondest memories of playing with that seat mate, buying and bringing a math/grid notebook for playing that game alone and teaching the game with other seat mates where ever class I go.
