The category I was most interest in was the bread.

I can never figure out which bread is actually good for you and how to balance the carbs and the fiber content to find the best one. For bread, Nature’s Pride 100% Whole Wheat came out on top.

The 2009 Healthy Food Awards winners were announced in the FITNESS magazine, July/August 2009 issue. On their website, you can find some terrific coupons and recipes for the product winners.

As you have probably gathered thus far, I am a female. Its still weird to call myself a woman, but whatever. I’m 21. I’m a woman.
I also like to workout. It is my career, but I also like the way it makes me feel, look and gives me peace of mind that I am taking care of my health for the future.
I may have missed something, but I guess being a woman and being interested in fitness means, that I have to care about how my makeup looks, and wearing the cutest outfit to the gym.

Call me crazy, but I’m not interested in that. I’m not interested in “Getting Beach Ready in Four Weeks” or “Post Work-out Beauty Tips” or “Gym Soap-Friend or Foe?”

I can’t not laugh at that last one.

Sorry, but some people aren’t interested in losing weight and looking wonderful while doing it. You‘re lucky if I remember to shave my pits before I head to the gym. If that’s what you are looking for, good for you for making the decision to get healthy, but your first priority shouldn’t be to do it to look good in a bathing suit. Some people are interested in gaining muscle, or finding new ways to rip your abs. If I go by every women’s fitness mag, once I don’t want to lose weight anymore, I’m done! Class dismissed! I graduated!

I thought I was doomed to read about working out without putting a pony tail crease in my hair, or using a dish towel to upgrade my ab workout, but turns out I was wrong. Thank God, I was wrong.

I was rifling through the magazines at my work ( because if they aren’t fanned perfectly across the table I may burst) and stumbled upon a gem.

Muscle and Fitness: Hers. The tag line: For Women Who Want More Out of Fitness

Hey, that’s me!

There was wonderfully ripped, gorgeous woman on the front. She had anterior deltoids to die for (a complement every woman would love to hear. Take note, fellas) Now that’s what I want to look like. Not a skinny model in booty shorts.*

I flipped through and found articles like “PEAK: Organize Your Workouts for Optimal Muscle-Sculpting Results” and “Mint Condition: Build Strength and Power With IFBB Fitness Pro Amy Villa-Nelson’s Dynamic Full-Body Conditioning Program.” Amy Villa-Nelson is the cutest little woman that could bench press me I have ever seen. I just want to put her in my pocket.

Anyway, I promptly <strike>stuffed the magazine in my purse</strike> went to the store and bought my own copy.

I’ve been hooked ever since. Call me a life-long MF-er. The only thing close to a fashion or beauty article I’ve found is “A Better Sports Bra: Say Goodbye to Uni-Boob!” which I skipped because I really don’t even need to wear a sports bra. I’d kill for a uni-boob.

I’m girlie. I AM! I like clothes, and smell-pretties, and manicures, but I don’t want it mixed in with my workout. If I don’t leave the gym looking like I just spent 5 days in the wilderness running from wild warthogs, it was not a successful session.

Wart hogs are scary. Imagine one chasing you.

So if you are looking to blast away 500 calories in 8.5 seconds without mussing your hair, stick with the chick mags. If you want real workout tips that will get you strong and lean, pick up a Muscle and Fitness Hers.

*Who actually runs in a sports bra and booty shorts? I like in a nice neighborhood, but if I wore that to go for a run, I’d either be abducted or arrested.
