2009 Midseason Undefeated and Winless

We’re about at the mid-season point for college football. I always think it’s interesting to see which teams have gone undefeated so far and which teams have yet to win a game. By this time, most teams have had at least ONE tough opponent and at least ONE game where they had a chance to win. Here’s how the lists look this year:
Undefeated:
Alabama
Boise State
Cincinnati
Florida
Iowa
Kansas
South Florida
TCU
Texas
Winless
Ball State
Eastern Michigan
Florida Atlantic
Miami (OH)
New Mexico
Rice
Western Kentucky

South Florida sucks…but doesn’t swallow

I think Coach Jim Leavitt was sweating for a bit there. Today’s South Florida game against Florida Atlantic was a close one, and there for awhile it looked like FAU might host an upset to rival Michigan’s opening game loss. That’s right…in case you didn’t watch the game…FLORIDA ATLANTIC ALMOST WON.
Of course, South Florida didn’t stand for it, and pull the game out of the sewer during the fourth quarter. Let’s compare the stats a bit. Passing, SFLA had 122 yards to FAU’s 259. Rushing, however, SFLA dominated with 302 yards to FAU’s 152. That means in total yards South …read more
