Top Pros Set To Fish Southern Open On St. Johns River This Weekend

After 2008 kicked off it’s tournament season last weekend with a record setting tournament in the Texas Stren Series at Falcon Lake, BASS will now begin their 2008 season with the Southern Open on the St. Johns River in Florida from Jan 17-19th. While I don’t expect the tidal fishery to pump out any record setting catches, I do expect that we will see some stiff competition between many pros we hear about during both the Elite Series events and the FLW Tour events.
Released by BASS was this weekends participant roster. Some big BASS names fishing will include: Ish Monroe, Michael Iaconelli, and John Crews. FLW big names …read more

Every year, certain sponsors in the fishing industry seem to get bigger and bigger. The only thing I am waiting for is to see tournament bass fishing develop team owners much like Nascar. Not really, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone try it within the next couple of years.
The National Guard Team has announced its addition of two more members to add to their already impressive roster. They include former Forrest Wood Cup Champ, Brent Ehler, and American Military Veteran Melinda Mize Hooper.
The complete team roster is now: Pros – Brent Ehler, Melinda Mize Hooper, Tim Klinger, …read more

Recently announced, FLW pro Anthony Gagliardi has joined the Lake Fork Tackle Team. After joining together at the PAA sanctioned Toyota Texas Bass Classic, Gagliardi caught the attention of owner Mark Pack. Gagliardi, who only accepts sponsorship offers from companies that he uses, was more than excited to accept the offer from Lake Fork Tackle. “I’d been looking for a soft-plastic bait sponsor, but hadn’t really pushed anything so the timing was great”, Gagliardi said.

Sometimes people in the sports entertainment industry have to do more than just catch the wining touch down for my home team or set the all-time home run record for me to become a fan. Sometimes they have to show that they are willing to give back on what we the fans have given to them. In this case, Ryan Newman will be doing just that and for the second time.
On Saturday, December the 8th, Ryan Newman and wife Krisie will be hosting the 2nd annual “Ryan Newman Foundation Charity Fishing Tournament” on Lake Norman in Mooresville, NC.. The event …read more
Is BASS Re-surging past FLW?
December 2, 2007 by Don Zaegel

If you ask any particular crowd of tournament anglers which circuit is better between BASS and FLW, you will almost always get a one sided answer. Of course the answer will depend on what group of anglers you ask. Regardless, their reply will always be one or the other with no space in between. The best comparison I can think of, is if you go up to an American pick-up truck or hot rod enthusiast and ask him, “Ford or Chevy”? Your answer is going to be that one rules and the other sucks for whatever reason and every now and …read more
