I came across the Raptor when checking out the new line of F-150 trucks. Ford already has the best reputation in the full-size pickup business, topping all the charts against all of the competition. What makes Ford different for the past few years (and perhaps the main reason they didn’t have to beg for a bailout) is that they have been delivering Ford Tough trucks.

The Raptor is no exception as it comes with a powerful 5.4L V8. You can even opt for the all the more powerful 6.1L V8. This may be a little bit of an overkill but it could come in handy pulling a semi-trailer out of the ditch (whick I’ve seen the F-150 do on YouTube).

2010 Ford Transit Connect

This may not be the van for the suburban family but no longer will a business owner have to decide between a large cargo van or a bulky pickup truck. The success of the Transit Connect in Europe has encouraged Ford executives to test the markets in The United States and Canada. Not only is this a practical vehicle to maneuver around town in, it is also a very fuel efficient van. The Transit Connect will get you 22mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway, that’s the best in it’s class by the way.

2010 Ford Escape Hybrid (Image: Ford)

Not only is this a extremely well built Hybrid, the Escape is also a light truck that is built Ford Tough. The Escape Hybrid comes with the optional FWD or 4WD system with smart technology. This means that the Transmission automatically adjusts from front to 4WD when the occasion is required. This means that you can be confident no matter where you need to go.

The engine on the Escape Hybrid is a light 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine that produces 153-hp. The electric motor is a powerful Permanent Magnet AC synchronous power-plant that produces 94-hp. This produces adequate power for the Escape in speeds from 0-44mph at which time the gas powered engine takes over. Having the engine shut off at non-efficient slow speeds the Escape can crawl through traffic or wait in the drive through with the engine completely shut off. There have been complaints however from car reviewers that the switch from electric to gas is not a smooth transition. This might alarm some people however it’s hard to complain when the Escape Hybrid can get you 32mpg in the city and 35mpg on the highway. These number can even be lowered further by learning simple efficient-driving techniques.

To ensure that the Escape Hybrid is the most ‘green’ car on the planet Ford has gone through the trouble of making sure that most of their Escapes are made from recycled materials that can be further recycled when the car ends up in the scrap-yard. The Escape also has bio-degradable chairs and upolstry. And to make sure that all care was added for the environment, Ford is paying the full carbon credits needed to produce their Escape Hybrid’s. This means that for every pound of carbon monoxide produced to make the car Ford pays the equivalent to further technology that will help reduce it.

The 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid is a little pricey with a $31,000 starting price. Those numbers can be be slashed further if you take advantage of your local government’s Tax credit advantages.

2009 Ford Ranger

Easy on the budget and gas pump, the Ranger appeals to a growing demograph of young working men and women who want to be able to keep more of their paycheck.

The Ranger comes in a variety of trims that will suit most buyers. Personally, I would recommend the 4X4 Off-Road Ranger. It’s more suited to haul heavier loads and can go pretty much anywhere. It comes with the available 4.0L V6 207-hp engine. And that’s plenty enough power for a truck this size. Mileage is great too – at 14.3L/100km in the city and 10.7L/100km on the highway you’ll be able to save even more of your money.

The starting price for the 2009 Ford Ranger is a a decent $15,000 for the base model. That figure can jump significantly to about $25,000 for the fully loaded 4X4 Super Cab. If interested check one out at your nearest Ford dealership today.

2010 Lincoln MKX

Unfortunately the MKX doesn’t have a third row bench seat (a typical feature on a cross-over). Instead Lincoln decided to go with a roomier interior for back seat passengers as well as plenty of trunk space for everyone. It’s almost as if this car were designed for car-pooling coworkers to the airport. If the price were a little more on the conservative side this might just be the perfect car for taxi drivers.

The starting price of the 2010 Lincoln MKX is about $36,000 but could reach into the high $45,000 when fully loaded. What great about the MKX is that it is has the agility of a car but with relative power unlike it’s Escalade parent.

2010 Ford Shelby GT500

The GT500 put the power back where it should always be in a race car… the back. The rear power gives you the feel of a race car but don’t expect it to handle well on ice or snow. Instead keep this prized car in the garage in the winter and show off it’s beauty in the summer.

The 2010 GT500 features a few interesting new features. Like the standard cold air intake that is designed to get air fresh from outside to feed the engine. Racing engineers at Ford decided that this was better at optimizing horse power and performance. Other features can include the back seat glass roof that helps open up the feel for your envious passengers. And because it’s a Ford you’ll enjoy having their acclaimed Sync System that combine all of your favorite electronic devices into one voice operated system.

The starting price of the 2010 Shelby GT500 has remained on the more modest $50,000 starting range. Not that bad considering other cars in it’s class.

2009 Ford F-450 Cabela

With market research showing that 76% of Super Duty buyers were the hunter/fisher enthusiasts (I could have told them that), Ford decided to change it’s design to better suit the market. Their partnership with Cabela proved successful and have helped Ford boost it’s market sales. The Ford Cabela only comes in three colors, green, red and grey and have special edition leather seats and special trims.

My favorite special edition Ford, the Harley-Davidson F-450 comes in the Harley colors of orange and black. The interior leather seats are laced with Harley logo’s.

No matter what type of Ford F-Series Super Duty you’re into, they come with the available 6.4L V8 350-hp twin-turbo diesel engine. Not the most powerful engine for a truck this size, but it’s powerful low-end torque makes it perfect for towing heavy loads on the highway.

Ford Taurus Plays With The Big Boys

2011 Ford Fiesta

Now If I were to tell you that Ford is also know for making fuel efficient compact cars in Europe and the rest of the world since the 70’s, would you hit the roof? Well it’s true the truck masters have been making the Ford Fiesta’s in Europe since 1978 and now that the market is ripe here in North America Ford has decided to bring their production here.

Personally I’m kind of excited about seeing these cars on the road. They are fast, powerful and fuel efficient. They also come with all the bells and whistles that truly make for a great driving experience.

The new North American 2011 Ford Fiesta will be available in mid to late 2010. I can’t tell you much about them since the information is still under wraps, but what I do know is that the car comes with a light 1.6L Ti-VCT (twin independant variable cam timing) I’m guessing that helps with better power output. I did however manage to find this review of the European 2010 Ford Fiesta. Ours will be a little different in its front design but that’s about it.
