Raven Squad Screenshots

Raven Squad is a FPS [first person shooter] meets RTS [real time strategy] meets badass mercenaries.
The game promises “dominantly story driven objectives”. So, from what I’ve read, they’re promising a FPS, RTS and RPG [role-playing game] all rolled into one game? That should be a hoot-if they can pull it off. Oh, and there’s multi-player.
From the release:

Set in the Amazon in the year 2011, players will experience lush jungle visuals, haunting ambient sounds, changes in the weather, and an enemy in their home element
Featuring the best of both worlds, Raven Squad has core FPS and RTS gameplay combined, for …read more

Maybe?

Maybe?

I hate fishing games, but I would play a FPS Fishing game. Something like Super Eagle Black Bass. What? FPS Fishing sounds dumb. I beg to differ.
OK, this is a “First Person Shooter”. Notice the first person view, and shooting.

This is also a first person shooter. The only difference is that in this one you are not killing humans. So, even if you are killing other types of animals in a game, it can still be called an fps. (I know another difference is that you are on a different planet. Give me a break!)

This “hunting” game is in the …read more

Far Cry 2 'TGS 2008' trailer HD
Of course, in this busy season of game releases, let’s not forget Far Cry 2, which made its presence felt in this year’s Tokyo Games Show. With this year’s batch of great games, we wouldn’t be surprised if blood banks are flooded with donors.

Fallout 3 videos aggravate “the itch”

The Fallout 3 release date is just around the corner and GameTrailers was ruthless enough to show off several more videos to get us all worked up before the big day. If you’re looking for more reasons to aggravate the Fallout 3 itch, hit the jump to watch even more videos.
Fallout 3 is hitting North American store shelves on October 28. The Bethesda-developed RPG is arriving in Europe and Australia on October 30, and Japan in December 4.

High ground gives advantage in Far Cry 2

There’s a new trailer for Far Cry 2 showing some more gameplay mechanics. This time, it’s about gaining the high ground to “win.” Unfortunately, all the advantage offered by high ground won’t be much help if you can’t shoot a lick.
Let me guess. Gamepad? No wonder.
For what it’s worth, this guy can shoot better than me when using a controller. I, however, don’t use controllers when playing first-person shooters.

The Conduit shows off “hardcore” features

The Conduit 'Features' trailer
It looks like the Wii is finally going to have another “hardcore” game. High Voltage Software, known for titles such as Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law (PS2, Wii, PSP) and Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (PS2, PC, Xbox), is developing The Conduit for the Nintendo Wii. While the Wii may be considered underpowered compared to its rival consoles, The Conduit includes interesting “features” that make it look like a semi-respectable, run-of-the-mill sci-fi FPS.

Video review: Crysis Warhead is still the best way to punish your PC

Aside from a growing list of must-have games, the other thing I’d like to have this coming holiday season is a beefy new PC that can run bleeding-edge FPSes Crysis and Crysis Warhead at maximum resolution and detail without any hitches. Fat chance of that happening, though.
The next best thing is to watch how GameTrailers liked Crysis Warhead. If you can’t run either of those Crysis games, then it’s sheer torture to watch the pretty, pretty video. Still, there’s a sick sense of pleasure to be derived out of just witnessing the whole clip unfold, even if your PC is …read more

Shellshock 2 morphs into a survival horror FPS

Remember Shellshock: Nam ‘67? It’s a reviled third-person shooter from Eidos that came out four years ago. There’s a sequel coming this December, but it isn’t quite the same game. Shellshock 2: Blood Trails has morphed into a survival horror FPS.

New Resistance 2 videos show even more multiplayer details

Joystiq seems to be intent on providing another video extravaganza. Last week, we were treated to several Far Cry 2 clips. This time, we’re talking about 10 (count ‘em!) Resistance 2 videos. Like before, the videos aren’t your typical short clips that are used mainly to tease. The videos are substantial and provide a deeper look at how Resistance 2 is going to be like.
Let’s get this extravaganza started! Ready the junk food and watch the videos after the jump.
