Fred Couples is 50-years-old, a fact which I find mind-blowing, seeing that Couples was probably my favorite golfer growing up. And if he’s now 50, and eligible to play on the Champions Tour, then that makes me older than I want to imagine. But time marches on, and yes, Fred Couples is all set to make his Champions Tour debut in a tournament that best suits him–the 2010 Champions Skins game.

Americans Capture the Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cup played out exactly how many thought it would, as the Americans cruised to victory over the International team capture the Presidents Cup. The margin of victory was 19 1/2 to 14 1/2, with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson leading the charge against Greg Norman’s overmatched International team. Woods and Mickelson were outstanding all week, and finished the tournament undefeated. As their reward, team captain Fred Couples awarded the pair two of the four autographed Michael Jordan jerseys. The remaining two went to Anthony Kim and Steve Stricker.

Presidents Cup Captain’s Picks Announced

Today was the day that the two captain’s for the Presidents Cup, Fred Couples for the American squad and Greg Norman for the Internationals, were to reveal their two captain’s picks for their respective teams. While Couples stuck to the script, taking Lucas Glover and Hunter Mahan, Norman went off on a tangent, choosing one of the best young players in the world, then confusing everyone by picking a player who seems to be getting by on reputation alone. Skins Game Another Victim of Economy

The LG Skins Game, a Thanksgiving weekend tradition for almost 30 years, appears to be the latest victim of the downturn in the economy. Organizers of the popular event that marks the end of the PGA season, say they plan to resume the tournament in 2010.
The Skins Game is unique in that prize money is awarded for every hole and in that only four golfers are invited to participate. The total prize money available is $1 million, with $25,000 awarded to the winner of holes 1-6, $50,000 for holes 7-12, $70,000 for holes 13-17, and $200,000 for the winner of …read more
