Scholes earned the boot from the contest after doing his best Diego Maradona impression on a cross into the box as he reached up with his hand and guided the ball past the keeper into the back of the net.

Scholes attempt was poor, however, as the ball was almost two feet over his head and even the commentators could clearly tell on the play that he had reached up and hit the ball with his hand. Check out the video of Scholes’ handball after the jump.

Even though Man U lost in Super Cup action, Scholes is suspended for the first Champions League match on September 17 against Villarreal.

The so-called “Hand of God” was made famous by Maradona during Argentina’s victory in the quarterfinal round of the 1986 World Cup. Here is the video of Maradona’s handball, which was not as blatant of an attempt as Scholes’ and is still debated around the world today:

This is not a headline that you see everyday. A Major League Soccer player has decided to retire and enter priesthood. Chase Hilgenbrinck, a former Clemson University standout, has stated the need to fulfill his spiritual needs.
Hilgenbrinck has already accepted the calling and will serve six years in a seminary in order to become a Roman Catholic priest. Like I said, this is not something you normally expect from professional athletes.
By now you’ve seen the Dida super-flop, which has the remarkable distinction of being the most egregious example of soccer. Just to remind you, here it is.

Well, now Dida is being suspended. For faking an injury. Just a reminder, this is soccer.
AC Milan goalkeeper Dida was suspended for two Champions League matches Thursday for pretending to be injured after being touched by a Celtic fan who ran onto the field.
The incident occurred last week when the Scottish team beat Milan 2-1 in Glasgow. A fan ran onto the field late in the 90th minute and made what appeared to be [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Is this a step towards diving reform. Probably not, but one can hope. And who really gives a shit if they suspend Dida. She hasn’t done anything since that Eminem song about that crazy fan and the cold tea.
