Quake Wars is coming this October
More release dates coming your way. Gamers in attendance at QuakeCon 2007 were the first to find out that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will be on EU store shelves on September 28 and North American store shelves beginning October 2. The game is being developed by Splash Damage.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is set within the Quake universe in the year 2065. You can either play as the human GDF or alien Strogg in one of five character classes.

Study says in-game ads are effective
Ever wondered if in-game ads are viable? There’s a new study that shows us that it is. Double Fusion, an in-game ad company, boasts proof of the efficacy of video game advertising.
The research tested and determined the most significant factors which influence how gamers notice ads in games, including the type and depth of the ad placement, the type of the game, ad size, ad placement relative to the game camera, screen clutter, brand relevance to the audience, and other variables.

Quake Wars will have in-game advertising
The guys at Splash Damage talked to the community about in-game advertising in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, that hot shooter built using a modified Doom III engine. And you know what? The response seems to be generally good. For now, at least.
Neil Postlethwaite, managing director at Splash Damage, explained that the developers want to keep supporting ETQW and not just “walk away” after releasing the game. Postlethwaite thinks in-game advertising would help maintain the persistent stat servers and the community site, in addition to the updates and improvements that they planned.
