Indira Gandhi Prize Given to Bill Gates

The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development was given to Bill Gates on Saturday. Gates, who co-founded Microsoft and is one of the richest people in the world, was given the prize by Pratibha Devisingh Patil, the president of India.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was recognized for helping eliminate polio and prevent AIDS in the country of India. To date, the foundation has given more than $1 billion to health related projects and efforts in India.

Gates Foundation Gets More Than $10M

Apparently, many individuals are impressed with the work being done by Bill Gates and his wife. According to their annual report, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation received more than $10 million in 2008 from individuals making donations. That’s an impressive number, especially considering that the foundation didn’t spend any money fundraising.
According to the report, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has a $27.5 billion endowment. It obviously helps that Bill Gates of Microsoft fame is one of the richest people in the history of the world.
