Although much has been said about what technique to use when doing search engine optimization and much has been told about which part of the whole process needs the most attention, one expert still calls out for the importance of keywords and key phrases. This is according to a report from Business Feet and it continued that this expert, Shaun Oakes, keywords and key phrases should be one of the factors of SEO that you should focus on.

In the report, Oakes had said, “It wouldn’t be sensible to focus your accommodation website around the term ‘luxury Wynberg villa’ if there is no demand for it.” And that is definitely a good point to consider. Why would you be using such a keyword if there are no people searching for that? Who would then be finding their way to your site?

Indeed, keywords is not everything. You would also have to look if there would be traffic coming in for the keywords you would be using.

This just goes to show that more and more companies are looking at SEO as a really helpful means of bringing in more business.

As part of the study, it was also found out that in the United States, companies are spending half of their online marketing budget on SEO. And that is perhaps one of the main reasons as per the increase of expenses on SEO.

MarketingSherpa’s research director, Stefan Tornquist, has mentioned, “It’s designed to be one-half yardstick with benchmarks and standards for success and one-half inspiration with explorations of what’s working, what’s not and what’s on the horizon.”

And if this rumor is real or not, I still have no idea as of now but in a story, it has been disclosed that Google is already working on acquiring Digg, one of the most popular news aggregator sites.

The report did further share that Google is just about to purchase this giant of a site for $200 million. Now that is a hefty amount of money but knowing the powers that Digg has, that amount would be just right. And it seems that if this report is true, then Google would be using Digg in the news services that the search engine giant is offering.

So what do we know about Digg? Well, this site is fairly new. It started out back in 2004. it is currently one of the most popular sources of news and stories. Users could submit stories that they like and those who do read through the lot could vote which they like most. The one with the most number of votes would surely find a place at the top of the ranks.

Static URL’s: Remember that all of your important pages should have short and static URLs and dynamic pages may follow those static pages. If unwanted lengthy URLs exist at your site then replace them with short.

Footer: Don’t forget to place links for all important pages at the footer part of your index page. This allows your visitors to jump at important pages with just a single click.

Robot.txt: Ensure that robot.txt is necessary at your website with apposite crawler notifications.

XML Site Map: Nowadays an xml feed acts as a site map which includes all pages of your site and is really indispensable from crawler point of view and should be confined as a link at the index page or at the common footer portion.

Canonical Issue: Nowadays optimization for Google is vastly required because maximum customers come at your site through it. Thus canonical issue should be solved first if exist.

Common Header and Footer: a common header text and footer text within H2 tag should be placed at each of your web pages.

Avoid Black Hat techniques: Achieving organic ranking and holding it for long time depends absolutely on white hat techniques and we should simply avoid all black hat strategies.

Meta Descriptions: Sketch your proper business announcement with simple words for catching concentration of the visitors who are searching similar kind of product or service which your website is going to deliver them. Possibly you can punch your keyword into that description but in a tricky way.

Crawler Notification: All kind of search engine crawler notifications like SE robots instructions, website owner and publisher declaration, website language, copywriter name etc. should go from the Meta portion of all your web page.

Image Optimization: Crawlers are unable to read images and the flash part of your web page but these images or flash is required to influence the visitors. Thus Optimize this images with suitable contents using Alt tags which reflects your proper business.

Text Links: Use text links of all of your important pages of your site and if possible then try to avoid flash links, Java script links, image links etc.

Keyword Density Checking: Modern SEO services told us that you should inculcate your keywords at your content and maintain the density with an ethical mode.

Broken Link checking: Broken links are really very harmful for any site, thus don’t forget to check it first, if it exists then remove that from your site in a quick approach.

Now, if you are thinking that you should be doing some techniques that you think would make your site rise at the top of the rankings in the shortest time possible, you should probably think again. See, Google’s experts are saying that if you do such, you would be going against the guidelines that the search engine champion has set. And when Google finds out, your site could be ‘punished’ and you know what that would mean.

You can surely imagine the number of people searching for hotels and itineraries and places to stay in Hawaii. And a company based in Canada has decided to create a search engine which would allow users to actually have an easier search of rentals for a vacation in Hawaii. This company is Pretorious & McGrath and their search engine is HawaiiGaga.com.

In a report, the company has said that this search engine of theirs would help further boost the rental industry and the tourism in Hawaii. Now that could be very much true knowing that people would surely be more interested in a vacation in Hawaii with a search engine to help them plan.

A couple of weeks back, the industry has been buzzing that the purchase of search-engine startup Powerset was soon going to be final. Everything was already in the process. Well, there are some times when rumors are real. Like this one which now tells of Microsoft saying that they will soon be buying Powerset.

For how much would the whole deal be done? There have been no announcements of how much the deal is going to take. Despite going through the companies’ blog entries regarding the announcement, the price has been kept secret. But, as usual, rumors have it that it would be for around US$100 million. Will this rumor ring true? Or will it be just another rumor?

Satya Nadella is the senior VP of Microsoft and on the Powerset deal, he said, “We know today that roughly a third of searches don’t get answered on the first search and first click. Usually searchers find the information they want eventually, but that often requires multiple searches or clicks on multiple search results.”

What Google is actually doing is it has just added a new tool which has been made available for its advertisers.
Google Adwords’ Trevor Claiborne, in a news item, mentioned in a company blog, “Now, when you use the Keyword Tool to search for relevant keywords to include in your keyword list, you’ll be able to see the approximate number of search queries matching your keywords that were performed on Google and the search network.”

With that kind of tool being added, I could just imagine how happy advertisers would be. See, all the data are all there. You just need to decide which one to bid on for yourself.
