So how do you go about finding a job as an SEO analyst? Well, here are some tips you may want to consider:

Learn basic HTML and Java. While these are not always necessary for a career as an SEO Analyst, they certainly help.

Content: Just How Does It Matter

When doing search engine optimization on your site, it is important that you also do take into account the content. Well, what would a site be without content? Do you think visitors and guests to your site would love going back if there was no content? I honestly think that I would not be going back to a site without worthwhile content.
Now, that’s the thing that we have to consider. A site’s content is important. It is actually very important that most people in the SEO industry say that content is king. It is what brings people to return to …read more

Build Your Web Site With SEO

Yes. And I mean, you should be building your web site with SEO already in mind. In a news story from Direct News, it has been discussed that you would be able to be successful when you already put in SEO aspects as you go on building what you want your website to be.
Julie Batten, an expert on the subject, has also claimed that if you do such, the effects would be greatly maximized. Now that is something that most sites do not actually have. You would be having a greater advantage because of that. See, come to think of …read more

The Worst Kind of Scraper Sites

As an SEO, I don’t mind my content being scraped as long as those sites have a link to my site.  For me that’s a good one way link.    However,  there are sites that not only scrape your content but worst is that they “no follow” your links.   Those are the worst kind of scrapers in my book.
Here’s one of those leeches.

You can see this page at  http://www.free2surf.org/?p=250<– this link definitely has a nofollow.   I don’t want to send any drop of linkjuice from my site to his/hers.
Now check out the HTML source code.

So have you been  “scraped and …read more

3 Popular Music Search Engine

I’m checking out 3 popular music search engines (songza,  seeqpod, and skreemr).     Among the 3, I seem to like songza more.
When using a music search engine,  I expect to search either for a specific song, or I enter an artist and expect to see a list of songs by that artist.    I don’t want to see wikipedia articles or news about those artists.
I tried doing a search for “Duran Duran”, one of my favorite bands in the 80’s and here’s what songza returned.

Songza returned a list of  Duran Duran songs.   The nice thing about this is that if I …read more

Things That You Need To Know About SEO (Part 3)

This should be the third installment of this series of posts. It is interesting to note that there are some truths to what the Web Professor is saying and there are some that are quite debatable. Anyhow, it’s his list and those are his opinions.

Google is not as smart as it seems.
Just because a search engineer is nice, smart, witty and reasonably honest doesn’t mean he isn’t your adversary.
Forums are good for getting clients. Help people out when you can for free and you’ll see what I mean.
What might have been true yesterday might not be true today.

Things That You Need To Know About SEO (Part 2)

Here’s the second part. As I have mentioned in my previous post, I would be sharing the entire list bit by bit. Any reactions on the whole deal would be welcome.

I’d rather spend time promoting my stuff than a clients. If I fail its my problem and at least I didn’t have to listen to my client
SEO is not a panacea for not having a product of your own.
Go to a conference its so much better discussing this stuff in person and honestly its more fun.
Forums are the suxors but you need to pick at least one to keep abreast …read more

Things That You Need To Know About SEO (Part 1)

I came across a really interesting post and after reading the whole thing, I decided that it was worth sharing with you guys. See, this post is about the 73 things about SEO which has been penned by the Web Professor.
I’m going to be sharing the list bit by bit and I would like to hear reactions about what you may think about the list.

Search Engine Optimization is fairly straight forward there are no secrets.
Search Engine Optimization is marred by the fact anyone can discuss online and seem like an expert.
Online Marketing is where its at, and that should encompass …read more

Microsoft Is Not Yet Done With Yahoo

This just got in, Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) approached some media companies for a possible partnership to cook up a new deal with Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO).

“It’s clear that they’re still interested,” said Neele, who doesn’t hold Microsoft or Yahoo shares. “Microsoft still has this tiny problem in search: They’re losing market share to Google. If they want to deal with that seriously, they need to buy market share or invest in it themselves and that hasn’t been successful so far.”
I think Microsoft really wanted Yahoo’s search business. It’s the most logical thing to do to increase their …read more

Adsense Referrals Will Be Retired By August

Google’s (NASDAQ: GOOG) Adsense Referrals (not Adsense itself) will be retired by end of August.   This was due to the integration of Doubleclick to Google Affiliate Network.  They would like to focus more on the Affiliate network.
Adsense referrals  works like an affiliate program wherein you make money when a new person enters the adsense program and make money.   Such income was supplemental to the monthly adsense income publishers get and I believe a lot of people are going to miss this.
Nevertheless, it’s time to use those precious real estate for something that can make more money so don’t forget to …read more
