While BJ Penn is facing off against Kenny Florian this weekend at UFC 101, he still seems pretty hung up over his brutal loss to Georges St Pierre back in January. UFC 100 will not just be a pay per view, it’s going to be a celebration of The Ultimate Fighters 100th fight. Yeah, duh, I know.
Prior to the July 11th event at Mandalay Bay in Nevada, UFC will premiere UFC Ultimate 100 Greatest Fights starting on July 5th. Fans can vote on which fights they think deserve to be in the 100 Greatest Fights. That starts on May 1st at http://ultimate100.spike.com/. That show will start airing on July 5th at 9pm EST and will continue every evening that week, with the exception of Friday July 10th.

MMAFighting.com reports that Dana White confirmed in an interview on Canadian radio that Georges St. Pierre will defend his Welterweight title against contender Thiago Alves at UFC 100.
Alves is 9-2 in the UFC coming in to this Main Event with a 7 fight winning streak with his last loss to Jon Fitch at UFC Fight Night 5 in 2006 and his most recent win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 60.

That’s right. We might get to see a third fight between the two bitter rivals. BJ Penn filed a request for investigation against Georges St. Pierre’s corner after his loss last Saturday due to the Vaseline being applied to GSP’s back. A lot of people see it the same way without the Vaseline. I think both BJ Penn and GSP are great fighters, but I haven’t seen anyone train with a harder work ethic than GSP. I think GSP was in better condition and fought much better.

Here are the purses for UFC 94. A much more realistic pay scale, even for an established promotion. Rumors are floating around that the Affliction MMA promotion may be having financial difficulties after their fighters purses for Affliction: Day Of Reckoning was more than what they grossed in ticket sales. No word yet on how much they made in PPV earnings.

 
UFC 94 was an amazing event. Normally I don’t buy very many UFC Pay-Per-Views, but after watching the weigh-ins I couldn’t resist. It was worth every cent.

This fight could go either way. I know I said I would put my money on St. Pierre last time, but I really don’t know now. I guess we will find out on Saturday.
 

January 31st could be a huge day for BJ Penn, or just another victory for St. Pierre. BJ Penn wants to reclaim his loss at UFC 58. He also looks to claim the Welterweight Title and hold both the Lightweight and Welterweight titles. Both fighters train extremely hard and have a work ethic that is almost impossible to compete with, so this should make for a great fight. Here is a Short video of GSP training for next weekends event. It’s pretty much just a little over a minute of GSP doing cardio training in a gym.
