Saturday Morning Quick Fix

Well, the Sprint Cup Series returns to action this week, and what do ya know – seemingly overnight stories start surfacing once again. Funny how that works, eh? So, it’s been a little while, but I’ve decided to bring back your Saturday Morning Quick Fix, but this time with a slightly different format. Rather than trying to inform you of all the news in the NASCAR world by providing links to each of the story, this time ‘round I’m simply going to brush up on a few of the select storylines from this week. So, let’s get to it!

the Chase Update – Week 1

#1 – Ryan Newman – Flyin’ Ryan took the racing world by complete surprise by coming from behind to win the Daytona 500 this past Sunday and now sits atop the Sprint Cup Series points standings for the first time in his career. His current status at the top could be short-lived, however, as the Cup Series now heads to Fontana, CA … a place that hasn’t been extremely kind to Newman in the past. After posting three consecutive top-ten finishes from ’04 to ’05, he has failed to collect a top-ten at Fontana since the Spring of ’06.

A Night Out Gets the Wheels Churning

It’s funny that a simple night spent at the bar can spawn ideas in your head for topics of discussion in the racing world. Well, that’s exactly what happened to me over the weekend … purely accidental, I assure you. Last Saturday night I was at a sports bar up the road from me here in Virginia to watch Brock Lesnar’s UFC debut when suddenly I looked up and noticed a poster on the wall across the room. At first, I thought that it was Budweiser actually promoting underage drinking … then I looked closer and noticed that it was …read more
