Mark Martin Continues to Race Against Time

Mark Martin is regarded by nearly every driver, fan, and anyone associated with NASCAR as being one of the greatest drivers in the history of our sport, despite not having a Cup Series championship on his resume. He’s won 35 Cup Series points races, has the Nationwide Series record for wins with 48, and has finished 2nd in the Cup Series points standings on four occasions … so, yes, like him or not, I would be inclined to agree that he does indeed rank amongst NASCAR’s all-time elite.

Marlin, Nemecheck Sue Ginn Racing

While perusing NASCAR blogs and sites I came across some news that shocked me.  Sterling Marlin and Joe Nemecheck’s lawsuit against Ginn racing gives some insight into the pay-scale of two of NASCAR’s veteran drivers, and suffice to say, these guys are making some serious cash.
From Jayski’s site: Both drivers joined the organization when it was MB2 Motorsports. Marlin began in 2006 with a base salary of $1.1 million, and that increased to $1.2 million for 2007. Can Ginn Racing Grab Earnhardt Jr. ?

I was watching this weekend’s LPGA event, the Ginn Tribute (that’s women golf for you NASCAR-only types) and the founder of the tournament, Bobby Ginn was being interviewed between golf shots. Prior to this interview, I had no idea that this was the same Ginn that’s fielding a multi-car team in NASCAR, and this same team is the one trying to entice Dale Jr. join their ranks.
He’s obviously a man of wealth and connections, as he was able to convince Annika Sorenstam (former number one player in the world) to “host” his tournament this year. He was asked during the …read more
