I ran across an interesting article today on Yahoo! According to the BLS, although the job market sucks right now, the health care industry is booming.
During the past 12 months, the health care sector overall has grown by 363,000 jobs, making it the largest industry in the United States, accounting for 13.5 million jobs.
Better yet, the health care sector will generate 3 million new jobs by 2016, more than any other industry — thanks, in part, to aging baby boomers and increased numbers of retirees.
Now, I more than agree that the health care industry’s take off is largely due …read more

Today’s job market stinks. Depending on where you live, chances are that you’re facing a market in which 5 – 6% of people are unemployed. Ouch. I should know. One of my best friends is job hunting right now from my couch.

Sven Lindblad, of Lindblad Expeditions, received the conservation award this week and announced a new …read more
Harvard Trades Tuition for Public Service
If you are thinking about law school, Harvard has just announced an incentive that might make it more feasible. The Harvard Law School will waive tuition for third year students who work in the public-interest for nonprofits or the government for five years, according to the New York Times.
The initiative is meant to encourage students to pursue work that isn’t just about making the money to pay back big student loans. The Times reported that, in recent years, only about 10-12% of Harvard Law graduates in recent years went to work for a nonprofit or the government, opting instead to …read more

How Will You Honor Dr Martin Luther King Jr?
Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’ – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr., Day in the United States, a national holiday commemorating Dr. King’s birthday (Jan 15) and his leadership as a civil rights activist.
What you might not be aware of is that more than a holiday, today is also a day of service. The King Holiday and Service Act federal legislation honors MLK, Jr. and “challenges Americans to transform the King Holiday into a day of citizen action through volunteer service in honor of Dr. King.”
