Courtney Love Suing Activision

See? Sometimes you can actually learn interesting things when you read Perez Hilton.
This little shit storm was apparently aired all over Twitter when Courtney Love tweeted: WE are going to sue the shit out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises.”
Ms. Love claims that Activision didn’t have permission to use Cobain’s likeness for the avatar in Guitar Hero 5 and she wasn’t exactly calm with her tweets. Go through her twitter stream and you’ll have the pleasure [*snort*] of reading all about her anger and disgust in Activision’s general direction.

“Guitar Hero 5″ Screenshots

Guitar Hero 5 becomes available on September 1, 2009 but screenshots and videos are giving us some glimpses into what we can expect from the game. As my co-writer, Amy, wrote earlier this week, Johnny Cash is making an appearance which, in itself, is pretty cool but I’m extremely excited about the song list.
I’ve always wanted to play “Smells Like Teen Spirit” but I’m also a big fan of 80s music so I was thrilled to see songs from Duran Duran (“Hungry Like The Wolf”), Bon Jovi (“You Give Love a Bad Name”) and John Mellencamp (“Hurts So Good”).

Johnny Cash Comes to Guitar Hero 5

I am horrible at Guitar Hero. Horrible. Easy setting kicks my ass.
But, with the announcement of the addition of Johnny Cash and Ring of Fire to Guitar Hero 5, I just might consider grabbing up a guitar and giving the game another go.
New to the game is the Electric Honky Tonk Bar venue which gives you the chance to use any instrument controller to rock out to Ring of Fire and if you’re good enough, you can unlock the ability to sing as Johnny Cash himself.
The game will hit store shelves in September on the PS3, Wii, PS2 and Xbox …read more
Bill O’Reilly Upset By Guitar Hero 5 Ad

Bill O’Reilly, voiced his disapproval for a new advertisement for Guitar Hero 5 on his political talk show, The O’Reilly Factor. It’s not all that surprising given the fact that this man is upset/offended by basically everything.
The self-described “traditionalist” was none too impressed by the ad which featured naked women walking down the street with the titles of some of the songs in the game appearing in the strategically placed censor bars.
He mentioned the promo during his “Pinheads or Patriots” segment and asked if the ladies were pinheads and awkwardly added “I guess it depends on your point of view, …read more

Van Halen Among New “Hero” Games
May 9, 2009 by Jeanne Dupuis

Activision Blizzard has announced that they will be releasing some new music-based games later this year and, among them, is Guitar Hero: Van Halen. I love the GH games but they’re kinda milking the popularity, aren’t they?
There’s been speculation about this game for months so I’m very happy that they’ve finally put the rumors to rest. It’s supposed to be released sometime during the second half of the year and, while there were no specific tracks mentioned as being confirmed for the game, Activision did say that songs from Queen, Weezer, blink-182, The Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age (and …read more
