With the rise in prominence of online gaming, multiplayer games have become increasingly popular. It’s easier than ever to pick up and play a game with a buddy, whether they are in the same room or across the globe. So in this weeks Top 5, we’re taking a look at five our favorite games to play with a friend.

5. Resident Evil 5

This one should probably rank a little higher, except for the fact that it hasn’t been released yet. But still, the idea of a co-op Resident Evil game is enough to justify a spot on this list, even though we have yet to play it. It won’t be long though, and once March 13 finally hits we’ll all be able to spend some quality shooting zombies with our friends.

Finally! I’ve been slowly making my way through Fallout 3 since late December, but I eventually stopped due to some frustrating freezing issues. Hopefully this latest patch will alleviate some of that frustration so I can finally finish the game. Anyways, on to the headlines:

  • Bethesda has issued a patch, which should help with some of the issues PS3 owners are having with Fallout 3.
  • The downloadable content for Mirror’s Edge will finally be available to PS3 owners on January 29. Some new levels will be free, others will cost you.
  • If you were planning on picking up Skate 2 keep in mind that the game will include a mandatory 2GB installation, so keep some space clear.
  • Rumors are swirling that the PS3 will see a significant price cut in April.
  • A pair of new Bruce Springsteen tracks will be available for Guitar Hero: World Tour this week, and the best part is that they are free. For a limited time anyways.

Guitar Hero World Tour Trailer is Uncool

Oh yes, I just used that word. Uncool. My ancient lingo sends you careening back to the grey, damp school yard. Remember how you hid from the taunts of bullies under the bright plastic slide, your knees marked with gravel?

No…?

Zounds, my spell is broken. But I’m still using the word to describe Activision’s new trailer for Guitar Hero World Tour because it’s been a while since I’ve seen such a high-profile name release such an impotent ad. What does this video tell me about the game, exactly?

No gameplay footage at all, from what I can see. This is a little worrisome for a game that’s supposed to be out this autumn.

Guitar Hero World Tour borrows the Fisher-Price instruments schtick from Rock Band. I don’t know who’s going to have room for another set of drums, guitars and microphones, but it’s not going to be me.
