When I first used Twitter I used the website. I then used Twhirl which is a desktop widget before moving to Tweetdeck which is, in my opinion, the best desktop widget.

However, I found that the desktop widgets were distracting and my daily work routine was affected by constantly having a look. I wanted a new solution which allowed me to control my use of Twitter.

Then I found the Seesmic web option which I love and use to my window on Twitter. I keep it open in my web browser and click on the tab every now and then to see the conversations which are happening. I know what you are thinking why is that better than a widget….I don’t know except I am used to having my mail and my reader open in a tab and therefore used to only clicking on that tab infrequently.

The Seesmic blog has also now launched some new features which again enhance the experience.

“You can now preview certain links in Seesmic Web. Easily review picture links via twitpic, yfrog and mobypicture within your current browser window without the distraction of opening a new one. Also, preview interactive displays from certain bit. ly links – you can preview YouTube videos or Google Maps displays, all conveniently within your browser.“

It is a great tool for anyone using Twitter to find new friends and new conversations.
