I end up doing quite a bit of computer support for a variety of people throughout my day, weeks and months on an ongoing basis. If you’re currently running Windows 98 or Me editions, you have a flaw on your hands that you’re going to have to decide what you’re going to do with. Microsoft has already decided that they will NOT be releasing a patch for the hole. Support for 98/Me will be ending in July, so they feel the cost for investment to fix the issue is not worth it.
I can see both sides.
On one hand, there’s got to be a point where a company stops supporting products and Microsoft isn’t the first, only or last to do this.
