Fighting with Windows – Delayed Write Failed Messages Again

I’m starting to get an error again like I got before related to the use of my Maxtor 320GB external hard drive. I believe this time that the issue is more related to my new usage of the Windows Hibernate option on a regular basis instead of powering down.
When I put my computer into Hibernate mode I have my external drive connected to the machine. I’ll then pack everything up and head off to the next client. I take my laptop out my bag first and it begins powering-up. As soon as it resumes from Hibernate I get the messages …read more
Speed Up Start-up/Shut-down… Stop Doing It!

As our computers get older the start getting a little sluggish during the start-up and shut-down process. Let’s face it, as we all get a little older it takes us a little longer to get started, luckily I shut-down really quickly.
I’m not quite sure why it took me so long to figure out the way to really speed-up my start-up and shut-down process was to completely stop doing it. I should start using the “Hibernate” function instead.

More People Migrating to Vista

I’ve gotten a little more hands-on experience with Microsoft Vista lately. Will be getting more I’m sure in the days ahead. My business partner recently purchased a new laptop and it came pre-loaded with Vista. He’s been migrating most of his software and preferences over to the new machine, but that normally falls under my umbrella of responsibilities.
