Jimmie Johnson Closing on the Finish Line

The race for NASCAR’s dash for the line of the Sprint Cup Championship is coming down to the last corner with Jimmie Johnson 108 points ahead of Mark Martin and the pack a distant sight behind him. Mark Martin was looking like he might have a chance to grab his first Sprint Cup Series title, but now the 2009 Sprint Cup Series title is pulling away from him and Jimmie Johnson is about to bask in the glory and money of a Sprint Cup Series championship. The celebration party after the last race is going to be a would-love-to-be-there event …read more

List of the Week: Longest Winless Streaks Inside the Top 20

The winless streaks by drivers such as Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick have ranked amongst some of the biggest stories so far this season. This week’s “List of the Week” will feature the 10 longest winless droughts amongst the drivers inside the top-20 in points.

3-Peat is in the Works

So, why exactly does it appear that Tony Stewart could be in line for his third Cup Championship in just six years?  Stewart has a history of being one of the hottest drivers this time of the year every season, and 2007’s not looking much different.  Despite leading the most laps on the circuit in the early portion of the year, various on track mishaps and mechanical failures prevented the driver of the no. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet from picking up what appeared to be inevitable victories.  Stewart finally broke his string of bad luck on July 15 when he …read more
