We are just hours away from the start of college basketball practices.
And this weekend the first Bowl Championship Series rankings for college football comes out, making all the other polls irrelevant for the rest of the season.
Chances are, there are going to be plenty of teams and fans upset with the first poll. March Madness is fast approaching.
Every conference game matters. One big win could secure your team a birth in the NCAA tournament. One huge loss could dash your team’s hopes to play in the post-season.
Here are some of the biggest games to watch this week:
Tonight: #15 Michigan State at #9 Wisconsin – the Badgers are tied for first place in the Big Ten with Indiana and Purdue, while the Spartans are trying to play catch-up. Wisconsin needs to win this game to put the pressure on the Boilermakers and Hoosiers.

As we get closer and closer to March madness, the conference battles are heating up. Here are some prime college basketball contests to watch this weekend:
Saturday February 16:
#7 Stanford at Arizona – the Wildcats are on a roll at home right now, as they have defeated Washington State, Washington and USC in their last three home games. Arizona played the Cardinal very tight in their last meeting on January 17th at Stanford, losing 56-52. Stanford needs to be on serious upset alert.

UPDATED 12/13: Injury scare for Hoosiers’ Gordon

Indiana Hoosiers basketball fans across the country held their collective breath when freshman sensation Eric Gordon left the Hoosiers game with Tennessee State with a back injury.
Gordon fell hard on his back and suffered a soft tissue injury between his hip and lower back. His status for Indiana’s game on Saturday against Kentucky is questionable.
Hopefully, this back injury will heal quickly and won’t keep Gordon out of action for a long period of time. But, back injuries are always tricky and it doesn’t take much to tweak it again.
