One of my colleagues told me almost 10 months back that Android is the future of mobile applications. I have never thought about Android and never realized it exists but I was still curious why he treated Android as the platform of the future.

As the months moved forward I began to see one device after another being created on the Android platform. Verizon one of the technology communications giant has began rolling out a product line of Android powered devices. Google Apps became more and more powerful and popular and its integration with Android boosts the future of the platform furthermore.

Today, Google apps and Android are becoming powerful tools for productivity that is seeing wider user base.

Verizon’s new strategy and new product called the HTC Droid Eris ensures progressive growth of the Android. The HTC Droid isn’t as powerful as most mobile devices but its specifications of Android 1.6, 528 MHz CPU is enough for most users. The price tag. $99 USD. That is right, this is probably one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) Android device in the market which aims to bring the platform and the device to the masses. We can see massive adaptation of this device and platform in the coming months.

It is speculated that the HTC Droid Eris is not going to be launched on November 6 alongside Motorola Droid which is another cheap Android device, but you might consider waiting a little longer for this device. I am pretty sure the manufacturers are pushing to release this right away before vendors start pushing Android devices in that price range.

Do you want this Android phone? Are you happy with the $99 USD price tag?

Going back to what my colleague told me 10 months back, I strongly feel that Android based phones is going to make a good run and would probably be in the top tier in the years to come.

Early previews are coming in for the HTC Google Ion, the successor to Google’s first “G1″ phone, and for the most part, they’re good.
Early previews are coming in for the HTC Google Ion, the successor to Google’s first “G1″ phone, and for the most part, they’re good. Nearly everyone seems to agree that the Ion is an improvement from the G1 — with full touch-screen support — though everyone agrees it’s no iPhone killer. Take a look…

They love the new 3.2 megapixel camera, the extended battery life, and the easy syncing “your entire life” to the phone instantly using your Gmail account. They also give kudos to the new version of Google’s Android OS. But the less tactile touch screen, the ancient web browser, and the sluggishness of app animations were turn-offs.

CNET loves the “easy-to-use interface,” fast 3G speeds, and seamless Google app integration, but is disappointed by the Ion’s inability to fully sync with Outlook, poor video quality, and missing headset jack.

Gizmodo is wild about the shape and weight of the Ion, the beefed up speed thanks to added ROM and RAM, and the not-quite-as-good-as-the-iPhone’s touch screen keyboard. But they lament the lack of a hardware keyboard and the space bar’s nagging habit of not registering your keystroke when typing fast.

There’s no release date yet for the HTC Google Ion, but we’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available!

“We have seen both and we believe that the new HTC phone will be a real competitor to the iPhone and the Pre which at this stage looks nice but is still not delivered to market”.

I’ve been using my PPC-6700 which is manufactured by HTC and have been happy with it for almost 4 years now. Having a new phone would be nice, but it’s not worth the price for me to really upgrade it at this point. It still does pretty much everything I need a phone to do.

The iPhone is a nice device from what my friends say that have one, but I’m curious how much of its popularity is just because it’s an iPhone from Apple and it’s "cool" to pull one out of your purse or pocket and have everyone see you.

The key for me in any phone is functionality, reliability and ease of use.

My only real complaint about my PPC-6700 is the volume limit for both the receiver and ringer.

I bought my wife a new Palm Centro for a Christmas gift this year and she’s been happy with it. It’s taken a bit of an adjustment for me to re-familiarize myself with the Palm OS though, so having the Windows Mobile OS for me has been great.

The no-brainer synching between my phone and everything in Outlook has been perfect.
