If it weren’t for all the drama he stirred up, that sick and greedy corporate raider Carl Icahn would never have made the Yahoo board. The guy knows nothing of tech.
Nevertheless, it’s better than the proxy board Icahn was pushing for: a bunch of yes-men who would tear Yahoo apart and sell it to Microsoft.
You have to wonder how Yahoo customers and shareholders must feel about this compromise, though. It comes mere days after Yahoo publicly maligned Icahn right on its front page, for all its customers and stockholders to see. Now Icahn sits on Yahoo’s board.

Needless to say, the said smear campaign has been whitewashed. It’s still in the Google cache, though. Get a good screenshot while you can. Unfortunately for Yahoo, the Web has a long memory.

I do not hate Yahoo. I’m happy they ended this insane proxy fight. I’m not happy, however, to see a n00b like Icahn join the board of directors of one of the world’s top tech companies. It’s like the second coming of Terry Semel. Having Icahn at the top certainly won’t help Yahoo shake off its cluelessness.
