iLife 09 to Ship On Jan 27th

Apple has announced that the eagerly awaited iLife 09 will begin shipping on January 27th. A quick excerpt from their press release states
CUPERTINO, California—January 26, 2009—Apple® today announced that iLife® ’09 will be available tomorrow, January 27, and features major upgrades to iPhoto®, iMovie® and GarageBand®, with breakthrough new ways to organize and manage photos, create movies and learn to play music. iLife ’09 is included with every new Mac® and is available as a $79 upgrade for existing users through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.

MacWorld 09

The Apple Keynote for MacWorld 09 is over. According to Apple this will be the last keynote as this is their last year as a participant for the expo. Sadly enough it wasn’t Steve Jobs who delivered the final keynote. Instead he left that task to his marketing man, Phil Schiller.

Spreading Out Your Mac to an External Hard Drive

Lately my Hard Drive has been getting kind of full. This has made things run a little slower than I’d like (especially PhotoShop), but it also limited my ability to import more CD’s from my wife’s collection into iTunes or import as many pictures as we’ve been taking of the new baby. So I decided to move my iTunes and iPhoto libraries to my external Hard Drive.
iTunes was fairly easy. You change the iTunes Music Folder location under the Advanced tab in preferences. Click consolidate library under the Advanced menu and everything copies over. (Keep in mind, this copies, not …read more

I gotta say this first, David Pogue is one of my favorite tech columnist/writer. Why? Because his articles are always fun and easy to read. That being said… On with my post…
Apple released its much awaited upgrade to the iLife Suite. They chose to skip one year because of the delay so from iLife 06 it now jumps to 08. Does features jump that far ahead as well given the delay? Well for most of the apps yes. But according to David Pogue, iMovie is more of a leap backwards.

Apple Releases iLife and iWork 08

Apple has released the latest version of two of its software suites. After more than a year since its last update, iLife and iWork is updated. Apple says this is the most significant update of both suites since their introductions.

iPhoto has received a significant upgrade for this version. Apple has introduced “events” based way of sorting out your photos. You also now have the option to hide photos that you probably don’t like as much to clutter your photo library but don’t hate enough to delete.
