Owners of IPL – Emerging Media
Continuing the series, sixandout dwells a little bit into the owners of the IPL Franchises.
Everytime I talk about the success of the Rajasthan Royals, people ask me : “Who owns them?” This post is for the most subdued owner in the Indian Premier League.
Emerging Media is the owner of the Rajasthan Royals. Apart from owning the IPL Team, these guys are mainly into media-property development business with a focus on developing programs for the Indian sub-continent.
In India, they are more known (if at all) for their reality cricket show : Cricket Star, whose runner …read more
Shoaib, Shukla help Kolkata Knightriders Romp Delhi Daredevils
If ever there was a passionate game of cricket played, it was this one. Shah Rukh Khan, the owner, was jumping up and down the dugout as his team went about defending the midget-like total of 134. Yeah you heard that right. 134. Most of the batsmen had failed for the KKRs and now it was time for the debutante Shoaib Akhtar to justify his Price in the IPL.
In came Shoaib and Virendra Sehwag was out first ball he faced. Caught by the Keeper.
Then it was the turn of Gautam Gambhir as he fiddled with a wide one, just …read more

SRK Gifts, Rajasthan Wins, Ganguly Cheats!
Just watched the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals match on telly. A few things prior to the match came to my attention. Since the owner of the Kolkata team has gifted each player a new laptop, the Knight Riders have never won. Some coincidence. I hope Vijay Mallaya (liquor baron, owner of the Bangalore Royal Challengers) doesn’t serve chilled Kingfisher Beer to his team.
During the game, there was a moment when Saurav Ganguly (48* then) lofted a ball straight to Greame Smith at deep mid wicket who took a lowly catch. As the Royals celebrated, Ganguly stood his ground …read more
Owners of IPL : Shah Rukh Khan
Starting this post, sixandout would dwell a little bit into the owners of the IPL Franchises.
We start with Mr. Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Apart from owning the IPL Team, SRK is arguably the biggest star of the Indian Film Industry.
In India, he is referred to as King Khan, and for reasons which are not fallacious at all. This guy has got this charisma, this ‘People’ thing. He knows how to catch the pulse of the audience. Be it coming to the Knight Rider matches and hugging each player to dancing and jumping in …read more
Harbhajan Slaps Sreesanth
Kings XI Punjab vs. Mumbai Indians (April 25, 2008)
There are a lot of incidents in life which one feels should not have happened. Being slapped by a senior in your cricket team is one of the worst. Having played (and still playing) some sort of cricket myself, I can at least try to understand the agony that Shantakumaran Sreesanth must have felt when he was slapped by Harbhajan Singh. According to most sources, after the match (which the Kings finally won), Sree (Kings) went over to Harbhajan (Indians) and said, and I quote: “Hard Luck, mate.” The next moment, Sreesanth …read more
Viru You Little Beauty!
Just watched the Delhi vs Deccan Match. The Deccan Chargers started out slow, but picked up later and reached 142, thanks to a certain Mr Rohit Sharma, about whom I would have loved to talk about now. But alas. Limelight is a very narrow lane. Only one can steal it. It was Virender Sehwag’s night. Just look at these figures:
Runs : 94
Balls : 41
Fours : 10
Sixes : 6
Poor old Andrew Symonds went for 30 in an over. This was certainly SOME innings. I beg your pardon if I am not articulate enough. Its just that….well….I am excited. The IPL has …read more

Firm Beginnings, High Hopes
Having guest blogged here before, the look and the feel of this blog was not new to me. It always inspired me. It was popular! I used to say to myself: “See, This is where you have to end up. Something similar at least!.” Now that I am here, its time to redefine the goals. By the way, the heading for this post is not about me. Its about the Indian Premier League (IPL).
I always wanted to start with something I feel very strongly about. Being an Indian, knowing a bit about Premier level cricket and loving the concept of …read more
