Spore on iPhone SDK

Spore has been in the works for what seems like a coon’s age and might actually be released sometime this century…maybe.
Now, for all of you iPhone fans, I present to you Spore on iPhone SDK and I must say that it looks pretty sweet.

SimCity Box Set

There’s no doubt that Maxis has sold the hell out of SimCity since it’s debut way back in ‘89. And by “sold the hell out of” I mean they’ve sold over 17 million of the games since the original launch.
Yesterday, EA announced that they will be offering a five-in-one box set of the ever popular game to be released in June of this year. The set will include SimCity Societies, SimCity Societies Destinations, SimCity 4, SimCity 4 Rush Hour, and Sims Carnival SnapCity.
The entire set is valued at around $100 USD but will be sold in the US …read more

Talk on Your PSP

Sony is tired of the man keeping it down and they’re doing something about it.
After getting trounced repeatedly by the DS, it seems that Sony has a secret weapon to boost sales: Skype. As Gamasutra points out, the rumor that the PSP would serve as a “portable communication” device isn’t new, but now we finally have some news for the US market.
Sony’s CES preview page is promising that PSP users will be able to “call friends, talk trash to fellow gamers, or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system.”
So, you’re handheld gaming system will now let you …read more

The Brits Love Assassin’s Creed

The Brits Love Assassin’s Creed

Not all British love Assassin’s Creed.
Case in point, my “boyfriend“. Then again, he does live in Australia, so maybe he doesn’t count any longer as British.
I promise there is a point somewhere in here.
Oh. Right. Why I said that the Brits love Assassin’s Creed.
According to GameIndustry.biz, Assassin’s Creed finished in the top spot across the pond in 2007. FIFA ‘08 came oh-so-close to kicking Altaïr’s ass, but missed the mark by a measly 1000 units.
[I really don’t think that we have to worry about FIFA ‘08 topping the charts in the US.  We Yanks don’t seem …read more

Rain Check for Wii

There’s been bad news for Wii coveters here recently.
Times were looking bleak. You’ve searched all of the stores, you’ve called everyone you know, you’ve even considered Ebay.
Still, no Wii.
Don’t despair good readers.
Nintendo America and GameStop are coming together to offer rain checks. If you “pay the full price of about $249 for an out-of-stock Wii on December 20 and 21 at retailer GameStop Corp, [you] will get a certificate promising a Wii sometime in January.”
I know this sucks just a tiny bit.
You were hoping to wake up Christmas morning and race down to find the Wii that Santa …read more

God of War Movie a Bad Idea

I must be the only person in “the industry” who thinks this is a bad idea. Or, if others feel as I do, I haven’t found where they’ve writing said opinion.
Well, I feel like crap today so I’ll use that as my excuse for being the asshole.
God of War: The Movie is a bad idea. Plain and simple.
The first God of War game rocked. It introduced a new way to kill things with all of its head wrenching goodness. The manic button pushing to kill sea monsters was tons of fun. And, who didn’t love …read more

No ‘07 Little Big Planet Demo

Little Big Planet is adorable. Just look at the guy to the left. How could you not love him?
I posted the trailer for the cute little thing here and I was looking forward to the demo that was promised by the end of ‘07.
Unfortunately, I [and you guys too] have to wait until next year.
Ron Eagle, PR guy for Sony America, told Stephen Totilo that, “I can officially confirm that there won’t be a demo this year.”
I know it sucks, but game delays aren’t a new thing and the game is slated for full release in ‘08 anyway.
Just …read more

Rockstar Wins Appeal

I’m sure that Rockstar is doing the happy dance right now.
As I wrote earlier, Rockstar was appealing the BBFC’s rating of Manhunt 2 which pretty much banned the game in the U.K.
Well, Rockstar won their appeal.
However, this might now be the last that we hear about the BBFC and Manhunt 2.
Sue Clark, spokeswoman for the BBFC, told GamesIndustry.biz that, “There are a few options open to us – we can go to the High Court to appeal the decision – but we’ll make a further statement when we’ve seen the full report.”
So, I’m not sure if the BBFC is done …read more

No Wii Ads in the U.K.

No Wii Ads in the U.K.

If you live in the UK, listen up.
Expect to see a lot more ads for the Nintendo DS on your telly.
Nintendo is pulling all of their Wii ads and replacing them with ads for the DS due to huge demand and a supply that just can’t seem to keep up.
A spokesman said, “We have been running the campaign all year round, but we want to take a responsible stance this Christmas and not fuel demand”.
Don’t fret my British readers, you can always get the Wii that I wrote about from Ebay.
Free shipping!
