Given as we are to deep thoughts, we need to make sense out of the darkest of sports moments we experience as sports fans. (Let’s say, for example, the New England Patriots playing their worst game in years and losing the Super Bowl to the New York Giants, who weren’t that much sharper until the very end).

We had a chat with reader Prospero after the <strike>debacle</strike> game. Analyst caps firmly in place, we were able to narrow down the Pats’ fatal flaw. It wasn’t Bill Belichick, or the defense that should have stopped the Giants on that last drive. It wasn’t even Tom Brady, who played like a second- or third-string quarterback instead of one making his fourth trip to the Super Bowl after a record-setting season. No.

It was none other than Gisele Bundchen.

Think about it. The Brazilian supermodel (also known as The Umlaut) has supposedly attended boyfriend Tom Brady’s games at Gillette Stadium. But: She wasn’t his gal pal last time he played in the Super Bowl, so this was her first trip to the Pigskin Pinata Fest.

And who’s to say she didn’t spend some quality time with Tony Romo squeeze Jessica Simpson in the past couple of weeks? That bad luck charm aura might be catchy.

Maybe Brady should reconsider the offer from Ines Gomez-Mont, the reporter who proposed to him . . .

In case you’re tuning in late, please check out Part I of our pre-Super Bowl interview with Winnie McCarthy, for whom Tom Brady held open a door back in their college days.
GoS: Was Tom wearing cologne the day he held the door open for you?
WM: Not that I can remember, but he did smell very clean, like he had showered right before class.
GoS: Did you ask him out?
WM: Only in my head.
GoS: Why not?
WM: Stupidity. However, if I had done so, I could’ve changed the fate of the NFL forever. What if we fell in love, ran off together, and he [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

In case you’re tuning in late, please check out Part I of our pre-Super Bowl interview with Winnie McCarthy, for whom Tom Brady held open a door back in their college days.

GoS: Was Tom wearing cologne the day he held the door open for you?

WM: Not that I can remember, but he did smell very clean, like he had showered right before class.

GoS: Did you ask him out?

WM: Only in my head.

GoS: Why not?

WM: Stupidity. However, if I had done so, I could’ve changed the fate of the NFL forever. What if we fell in love, ran off together, and he thought, “I am going to get picked so late in the draft I will never be a starter. Let’s go live in Hawaii instead!” I’d have said yes and well, where would the Patriots be then? Their fans should thank me for my restraint.

GoS: Indeed, thank you. Did you at least try to kiss him? Did he try to kiss you?

WM: I did not (see above loser-ness), but in the re-creation in my mind I did. I’m sure that he would have kissed me, but I think he was very busy and had something to go do of some great importance. Yes, we’ll go with that.

GoS: Who do you think is better for him, Bridget Moynahan or Gisele Bundchen? Or that reporter who proposed to him, Ines Gomez-Mont?

WM: Um, me? (Don’t tell my husband) [Gos: Everyone on the Internet, you heard Winnie. Let's keep it among ourselves, OK?]

GoS: Would you classify Tom Brady as a jock-jerk or a nice guy destined for NFL records and overall quarterback fabulousness?

WM: Based on my experience, I’d have to say that he is a nice guy. I mean, to hold the door for some plain short girl who you may or may not have seen following you all around campus? That is pure nice guy.

GoS: Thanks, Winnie. You’re the envy of swooning chicks everywhere. But now we want to know if you’ve ever met Bill Belichick . . .
