Is Microsoft Making Us Dumber

Could Microsoft be responsible for making all of us stupid? I shouldn’t really narrow Microsoft down in general among all the other tech vendors, but the original article on WXPNews was about Microsoft I’ll continue to run with it.
The argument is this:
With every iteration of another piece of software or operating system, the developers continue to make the computer or application do more for us without forcing us to actually think about how to do what we need to do to accomplish our task.
