When the blessed Steve Jobs descends from on high to impart his world-changing Apple touchpad computing device upon us mere mortals, we all know it’s going to be revolutionary. But we didn’t know how revolutionary until now.
Gizmodo is reporting insider information that the iPad will do a lot more than surf the web and run iPhone apps. Apple is looking to take on Amazon’s Kindle, too — and redefine what an ebook is. Toshiba announces first iPad challenger

Toshiba has unveiled what may amount to the first challenger to Apple’s long-rumored, upcoming tablet device (nicknamed the “iPad“) — before Apple’s device has even been officially announced. The JournE Touch is Toshiba’s attempt to be the first on the marketplace with a touchscreen tablet.
The JournE Touch is half an inch thick, sporting a 7″ screen, and weighing less than a pound. WiFi is built in of course, and the device runs on an ARM processor and Windows CE 6.0 Pro. It has 1GB of built-in storage, but an SD slot allows you to expand on that, while a USB …read more
