It’s looking more and more like Matt Hasselbeck will play this weekend for the Seattle Seahawks. On Friday, Hasselbeck practiced for the third straight day and reports indicate that he looked relatively healthy. As of now, the Seahawks are listing their starting quarterback as probable.
Is Seahawks head coach Jim Mora surprised that Hasselbeck has been able to recover from a broken rib so quickly?
“No, I’m not surprised,” said Mora. “Matt is a very tough man, physically and mentally.”
Before getting hurt, Hasselbeck had a strong start to the 2009 NFL season. In Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams, Hasselbeck passed …read more

Maurice Jones-Drew Returns to Practice

Maurice Jones-Drew, the starting running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars, has returned to practice. After getting bruising his leg in the team’s final preseason contest, Jones-Drew’s availability in Week 1 wasn’t certain. However, now it appears like he’ll play after he was able to get back on the practice field.
Many NFL experts are expecting big things from Jones-Drew this season. After playing behind Fred Taylor in his first three seasons, Jones-Drew has the starting job all to himself. As a result, he is likely to see many more touches in 2009.
Last year, the 5-foot-7 running back out of UCLA had …read more

Torry Holt Officially Signs with the Jags

Over the weekend, we reported that Torry Holt was close to signing with Jacksonville Jaguars. On Monday, those rumors became reality when Holt signed a deal with the Jags that could pay him as much as $20 million over the next three seasons.
Holt’s contract has a completely guaranteed first year, however he won’t receive a signing bonus. Of the $20 million, approximately $7 million is based on incentives.
There’s a great chance that Holt emerges as Jacksonville’s number one wide receiver in 2009. He didn’t play well for the St. Louis Rams last season but he also had a few injury …read more

Torry Holt Close to Signing with Jaguars

Torry Holt, who has spent his entire career with the St. Louis Rams, is reportedly close to signing a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the deal should be finalized soon but the ink hasn’t yet been placed on paper.
The Jaguars desperately need a wide receiver and Holt would be a very good option. The 32-year-old out of North Carolina State is coming off the worst statistical season of his career but he’s been one of the most productive wide receiver in his ten-year career.
In total, Holt has 869 receptions for 12,660 yards and 74 touchdowns. …read more

Scratch Matt Jones off of your Fantasy Football Wish List

Matt Jones, a fantasy football surprise during the early parts if the 2008 fantasy football season, got busted. Again.
Last year, he got caught with cocaine. This time it isn’t known what exact substance he got busted with but cocaine is probably a good guess.
What’s interesting is that Jones got a slap on the wrist for his cocaine bust last season. At the same time, Pacman Jones is practically kicked out of the league … and Pacman’s actual record is cleaner than Matt Jones. (No relation, by the way.)
Now NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will have a chance to give …read more
